Re: problem - related to tickets 32459185 / 32419866 ?

Hi WebDude ,
We'd be interested to know if this was still happening with the router connected. We would just like to understand if you still see the same issues with that connected to the line so we can be certain if it is a telephony based fault or one that is specific to broadband as we would need to deal with it if it is the latter.
If you still have issues with your phone service with the router unplugged then BT will have to deal with that for you otherwise we would recommend raising a fault with us via https://faults.plus.net, we can see that you have tried this before so we understand that you know some of the processes involved. Otherwise feel free to get back to us via here if you still need to.

As I have no dial tone, and incoming callers only get engaged, I really doubt that there will be any chance of the ADSL router making a connection, which would therefore not allow a conclusion that the cause was broadband related, even if it is the actual fault.  Of course, I'll plug it back in as requested, but I don't expect anything much to happen.

Good morning WebDude,
I can pretty much guarantee you would not be able to connect to ADSL with no dial tone, this would definitely be a case for your telephony supplier to deal with.

Currently connected  448 / 576 (Up/Down) - had not checked earlier, as I was out.
Will see whether connection stays stable...  at least this offers the same downstream speed I had in December 2000 Smiley

Well, dial tone came back for a day (Wednesday) but there's been none today.
Actually, with your logs of my connections and disconnections, you're in a better position to tell me when I did and did not have any service, as stopped checking after a while yesterday afternoon.  My connection was up and down like a yo-yo, so hardly any (100 to 200 MB) downloads completed, meaning I repeated a few and gave up on more.
[  I just wish the Thomson had an auto refresh facility the way my 9 years old Conexant router did, so the up/down speeds and dB losses, SNR figures, were always available  (similarly, the system log refreshed at 2 second intervals). ]

Have you raised this to your phone supplier yet? When we run a line test we see that it's likely an error with the internal wiring or jumpering. Can you try plugging the filter into the test socket and let us know so we can rerun the test (probably best to do this tomorrow). I'd still highly recommend getting the no dial tone reported to your phone supplier.
