What do these say....
http://www.speedtester.bt.com/
https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate
and can you post your router stats.
Once we've got that information we will be in a better position to see what is going on.

Well your synch speed is pretty good , although it looks like you've got interleaving on so your max is limited to 7616k rather than 8128k. That's going to limit your profile to 6500 rather than the max possible 7150. The BT speedtester is notoriously inaccurate as regards the download throughput speed. Try the PlusNet speedtester here http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ as its usually pretty accurate.
A set of router stats would be useful to see what your attenuation and error counts are like, to see if you would benefit from getting interleaving turned off. If you are unsure of getting the stats, try here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php

Hi Pretender,
As MisterW says, if you can post your router stats we'll be able to advise further - your sync speed looks good but I'm not sure about the slightly slower throughput. Perhaps it would be worth looking at tweaking your MTU size - more information on this at http://community.plus.net/library/settings/guide-to-rwin-mtu/
