There's a thread here about not using WDS...

Re: Billion BiPac 3100SN Wi-Fi Extenders.

What is WPS for?
I've never needed or wanted it.
You just configure the TCP/IP address of the router & DHCP will find your PC if you have chosen a proper access point.
You simply enter the WPA password at this point.

Re: Billion BiPac 3100SN Wi-Fi Extenders.

Without appearing to be a tad sarcastic, I would have thought that the whoosh smiley, would have given you a hint about my technical skills when it comes to networking!
I haven't got a [Censored] idea what you're on about, it's wayyyy over my head, you might as well be talking Japanese when spouting "TCP/IP address of the router & DHCP", it means NOTHING to me.
I got given this advice elsewhere:
1. Plug your 3100SN to the 8800AXL
2. Once the WLAN light is on, on the front of the 3100SN, open a web browser and type in the address bar http://192.168.1.253
3. Login with the username 'admin' and password 'admin'
4. Click on 'Wireless Settings >> Basic' change the SSID1 if needed
5. Click on 'Security' on the left hand side
6. Enable WPA 2 if needed (from clicking on the 'security mode' drop list
7. In the 'Passphrase' section enter a wireless password of your choice and click on 'apply'
8. Click on 'AP Client' on the left hand side
9. Select the 2.4ghz network from the listed wireless networks (the 2.4ghz network from the 8800AXL)
10. Enter your security password at the bottom of the page and click on 'Apply'
11. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the 3100SN
12. See if you can still access and navigate around the http://192.168.1.253 page (this test if the 3100SN is working wirelessly, your computer will be connected to the 8800AXL and the 3100SN will be wireless connected)
13. If you can navigate around the http://192.168.1.253 page then the 3100SN is ready to be deployed
If you still have issues, try running through the AP Client section again to re-apply your settings
Guess what IT DOESN'T WORK!  Angry

Re: Billion BiPac 3100SN Wi-Fi Extenders.

Pretty much the same steps outlined here:
http://www.billion.uk.com/esupport/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/316/3/3100sn-configuration-...
When you say "It doesn't work" that doesn't help people help you...  What doesn't work?  Are any errors shown during the configuration steps?  Does the device (or the router) give any useful error messages?
As you're using Billion kit, their forum would be a better bet and be prepared to document exactly what you're trying to do and how you're trying to do it.  Remember that other users aren't looking over your shoulder and can't see what you're doing Wink
Best of luck!

Re: Billion BiPac 3100SN Wi-Fi Extenders.

1. Plug your 3100SN to the 8800AXL (I Plugged it into a main socket and waited for the WLAN light to come on & then plugged in the RJ45 cable)
2. Once the WLAN light is on, on the front of the 3100SN, open a web browser and type in the address bar http://192.168.1.253
(I waited for the light to come on & entered 192.168.1.253 and waited & waited, it then appears)
3. Login with the username 'admin' and password 'admin'
(It never asks for this! Don't know why.)
4. Click on 'Wireless Settings >> Basic' change the SSID1 if needed
(I do this & Change it to Billion_AP)
5. Click on 'Security' on the left hand side
6. Enable WPA 2 if needed (from clicking on the 'security mode' drop list
(I enable WPA2)
7. In the 'Passphrase' section enter a wireless password of your choice and click on 'apply'
(I use the test Passphrase of Password12345 & click apply)
8. Click on 'AP Client' on the left hand side
9. Select the 2.4ghz network from the listed wireless networks (the 2.4ghz network from the 8800AXL)
(I select the name of my connection from the network listed (one))
10. Enter your security password at the bottom of the page and click on 'Apply'
(I enter the password that I use to allow my computer & laptop to link wirelessly via USB dongle & apply.)
11. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the 3100SN
(I disconnect the RJ45)

This is where it just fails & falls over everytime.

Re: Billion BiPac 3100SN Wi-Fi Extenders.

So you have two internet connections - a wired one and a wireless one...

Before you unplug the cable, does the web GUI give any indication of it has been successful in joining you wireless network, or any error messages?

Re: Billion BiPac 3100SN Wi-Fi Extenders.

It just comes up with:
set configuration...
Please be patient and not turn off the power.
Which then disappears after about 10 seconds.
PS. Doing this AGAIN & this at the same time to see if I can get it to work...

Re: Billion BiPac 3100SN Wi-Fi Extenders.

Right I've tried again and it configures, but will not allow me any internet access.
I have my tablet and I've told it to look for the access point "Billion_AP", which it duly finds, asks me for the test password which I have set as Password12345, it then goes Obtaining IP address, Authenticating and once in a while connects then disconnects & repeats the cycle.
And it now comes up with the error Failed to obtain IP.
The tablet then looks for alternatives & locks on to the router in the either the 2.4 or 5Ghz range (whichever it prefers) and connects to the web perfectly!

Re: Billion BiPac 3100SN Wi-Fi Extenders.

Update.
My patience has finally snapped, I have had nothing but problems with this woeful device.
The problems have included random disconnections (when I can get to accept programming), then there's the issue of when I am programming it (or trying to), it disconnects me from the internet. it has changed the password to something completely random from the one I programmed into it.
Then when I transfer it to another socket it loses any information such as SSID & Access Point information that allow it to connect to the router! A complete waste of time & money, still I'm within the time limit to return it to amazon.
I'm now considering whether to dispatch the router & USB adaptor as well and go for the Asus DSL-AC68 instead.
