Connection issue

Hi I recently added an unused sky router to my network as an access point to boost my signal in my garden. Works well. The problem is that my laptop can’t access the internet once connected to the Plusnet router. My other devices will connect and allow access to web. On opening up a browser on my laptop I get the sky ‘not quite connected’ help page.
Must be something that the sky hub added to my laptop but I’m struggling to reverse this. Any idea how I can fix this
I have rest internet connection setting on my laptop but this didn’t fix the issue

Re: Connection issue

@Joll66  Welcome to the forum.

Assuming that this is a Windows 10 laptop:

1. In the Win 10 search box, that's the one in the bottom left hand corner of the Windows Home page, tyoe cmd.

2. Select Command Prompt.

3. In the window that opens, type ipconfig /release followed by a carriage return.

4.Type ipconfig /renew followed by another carriage return.

5. Close the window and try again.

If the problem is being caused by the laptop retaining the Sky IP address then this should fix it.

As an aside, did you remember to turn off DHCP on the Sky device when you converted it to an AP. If you didn't you wi;; be double NATing devices connected to the Sky hub.

Re: Connection issue

Hi thanks for the advice. After following your suggestion I no longer see the sky page thanks.
Unfortunately the connection wasn’t fixed as the pc couldn’t then auto find proxy settings. While working through online help I encounter a more serious issue which has resulted in me having to reset my laptop.
Hopefully I can recover this. Thanks for your help.

Re: Connection issue

Hi. I got the following message
Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings

I assume I had some corrupt files especially as I have ended up with the blue screen and then unable to start up.

I’m reinstalling windows. No choice really.
Should sort my problem but not ideal.
