DMZ needed?

I have just installed a Plusnet Hub One.
I want to configure my Swan CCTV unit so that I can access it outside the home. It has a fixed IP address on my local network.
I believe I need a DMZ set for this?
Or can I use Port Forwarding: Game or Application=HTTP Server (World Wide Web), Device=<IP address> ?

Hi @soundg33k welcome to the forums
I would not suggest putting the CCTV server in the DMZ I would use a port forward rule.
FYI the two preconfigured games ports for HTTP use the following
HTTP Server (World Wide Web) is TCP port 80
HTTP Server is TCP port 443
This would be the rule to create:-
Port Forwarding: Game or Application=HTTP Server (World Wide Web), Device=<IP address>
assuming the CCTV server listens on port 80.
Hope this helps
Dan

You might want some strong security on your web server.

Thanks. Dan_the_Van. Yes the CCTV box listens to port 80.
I'll give it a go.

Sadly, I don't think that security is a strong feature of the box, though it does at least have a login screen. Actually if I log in via http, nothing then works, so it may be that the box is so old that it no longer works with modern browsers.
