I've never had any problems with Firefox updates but when trying to update as requested today, I get a message that
Platform version 130.0 is not compatible with min Version130.0.1 max Version 130.0.1
Although the program list in Control Panel shows that I have FF 130.0.1, when I try to launch it, I just get a 'blank FF browser' that looks like it is trying to launch.
Rebooting the computer has not made any difference, and I can't find any relevant information by Googling.
Anyone else had this problem?
Fixed! Go to the fix.

@Jonpe Very strange - just checked and the latest release, as shown on the official FF site is 130.0 - released 01/10/2024, so something is strange with your 'update' message - 130.0.1 isn't released.

Thanks @jab1 . Yes, I'm pretty sure the version offered was 130.0
In any case, if the offered version wasn't compatible with my system, it should just have left me with the version I had.

You said you ended up with 130.0.1 - which isn't on the official release channel. What prompted you to update, and what was your previous version?
EDIT: Something strange going off - the original page I took the 01/10/2024date from has disappeared, to be replaced by one that says 130.0 was issued to release channel users 03/09/2024 and 130.0.1 on 17/09/2024.
What OS are you using?

Windows 10
Yes, it looks like 130.0.1 was released in mid-September.
A message appears in the top right-hand corner of the browser when an update is available and I can Install or Dismiss. I usually click Dismiss and install it via the drop-down menu when I'm not busy doing other things which is what I did today. I always install FF updates so my previous version would have been the latest one. The list of programs in Control Panel show that 130.0.1 was installed 17/09/2024 which is the date of Mozilla's release notes for that version.

If 130.0.1 won't work for for some reason that I can't fathom, uninstall it, and install 130.0 direct from Mozilla - you shouldn't lose any bookmarks etc. doing it that way.

I now notice that the error message says 131.0, not the 130.0 that I said in my OP although I'm pretty sure I copied it down correctly. 131.0 would make more sense since the previous version was 130.0.1
130.0.1 was working fine since 17/09

That makes more sense, @Jonpe - 131.0 certainly hasn't been released! I suggest you uninstall the corrupt 'version' you have and re-install 130.0.1.

Is 130.0.1 now working for you?
If I uninstall, won't I lose my history, favourites etc?
I can't see a place where I can choose which version to download, just the latest version.

So it was, @RobPN - must have misread something somewhere. I won't see it yet though as Ubuntu don't release their version until a while later.

As I said in my reply to Rob above, Linux/Ubuntu are later to push updates out, so I'm still currently on 130.0
No, if you uninstall , your profile, with all that data, remains, and is merged.

I don't use Win10 or Firefox, but I'm wondering if Windows System Restore would be worth trying (assuming you have it enabled)?

I think System Restore is just for the OS.

It is a while since I used a Windows System restore - a long while - but IIRC it restores your machine in total to the state at the restore point you choose.
