not sure what you are looking for with your post.
The left cable is very old, as it pre-exists the house being painted, so probably cooper and has been repaired at some time
At a guess you used to have have two cooper lines to your property with FTTP replacing the cable which has been seen to the right of the property and cut short
I would be more worried about how the current fibre cable is terminated (which I take it goes down the middle of the property) than how pretty it looks.

The cable run would be determined on the positioning of the indoor equipment (ONT) it needs mains power, to me it could have been a bit tidier. Were you in when Openreach (or contractor) installed the cabling and ONT to your property as you might have had the choice where the cable was run. You might have missed the opportunity to complain www.openreach.com
Why the second cable from the ground floor to the upstairs room?
There is no reason to assume the look of the fibre cable from outside would be causing your issues, hence my comment about the cables termination, where/how the ONT is fitted and entry of the cable to your property.
If you use mainly wireless then the position of the router would need to be considered, being in a corner of a room on the floor, hidden by furniture, near a radiator is not advised.

Do Vodaphone use the BT infrastructure ? Round here they use Cityfibre. If not then a whole new installation will be neccessary.

So let me get this right.
Vodafone FTTP was already installed.
The Vodafone service was provided over an Openreach fibre to the house.
The router hasn't change position for nine years.
The FTTP service has been migrated from Vodafone to Plusnet.
So the question is - why was it necessary to install a new fibre to the outside of the house when an Openreach fibre and ONT already existed ?
.

@Anonymous I don't believe they have installed a new fibre, the picture shows the existing openreach installation which was for the Vodafone service.

So why would @cbcadmin have apparently been complaining to Plusnet about existing wiring ?

@Anonymous A good question, he tried it with another supplier and they refused to accept an order.🙄

I think that was because he was insisting to sign up for 40/10 FTTP that he had previously, but that speed is now no longer available from any ISP other than BT on a 'social tariff' under special conditions.

Maybe it's time to stop @cbcadmin
You must have had all your questions answered here and on thinkbroadbands forum.
One you've migrated to plusnet and you're having speed issues help might be offered, but for now I not following any further posts of yours
