End of Day: 13th May

End of Day: 13th May

End of Day: 13th May

It's fallen on me to edit the End of Day, on a not quite so sunny day... still, being Scottish I should be used to that. On the odd occasion I've been wandering around the office today, it's looked like everyone has had their head down working on stuff, so let's see what it's been... First up, we have Stephen from Development:

At the moment it's all hands-on-deck with the Brightview phase 2 project, with virtually all of the development and QA departments working on it, with it scheduled to go to gamma soon. LCST (Live Code Support Team) are now also working on it, doing stuff like code reviews and fixing beta-stage bugs. A month ago our team doubled (and then some!) in size as we took on board our new 6 additional Polish LCST team mates here in Sheffield. They're staying here for 6 weeks while Sheffield LCST mentor and train them up on our systems. It's cool having them here, as we're now one of the biggest teams (hurrah!) and mentoring's fun. Be sad to see them go Sad

Next up it's Michael from the CSC with their Top 5:

  1. Routers - The regular calls regarding router setup, both from customers who have got their routers from us and from elsewhere.
  2. Faults - Customers calling up for updates on outstanding faults.
  3. Provisioning - Customers calling for provisioning updates for home phone as well as for broadband.
  4. Email - Customers needing help setting up email clients.
  5. New Faults - no pattern to newly reported faults.

Dan from our Networks team is up next:

Quiet but busy day in Networks today, lots of work and not much noise. In addition to the normal day-to-day tasks like dealing with customers problems/tickets, monitoring of the platform and housekeeping and general service improvements, we've also been training up new team members and passing on our knowledge to bring them upto speed. The Parbin guys have been busy with admin duty's and contacting Netsol domain holders, they have also been involved with learning the Network support work flow as part of a knowledge sharing work group.

Comms comes from Chris:

I've been nominated to write the EOD for Comms, so here we go: Bob has been jumping from meeting to meeting with the odd workshop thrown in there. He's also been seen around the forums and handling Networks change controls. Mand is another one busy in meetings today, she's been in and out the forums too whilst working through a list of problems. Matt has also been in meetings and dealing with problems. He's also been working away on some trials we are looking at. James has again been sat with the sales team, I can't really comment on what he's been doing but I have seen some forum posts appear with him name on them. I've been compiling the results of last months' customer satisfaction survey and you'll be able to see the results soon. I've also been clearing out some problems and continuing to work on the safe surf trial. See you tomorrow.

James from Web Development:

Another great weather day in Sheffield, here's what people have been up to.... Projects Team (Wojtek, Grzegorz, Nick, and Mark) - as you might expect now, are still flat out on Brightview phase 2 email templates and bug fixes Duffy - drinking lots and lots of coffee, rolling out some problem fixes, and performing some 'administrivia' which I'm informed makes things work Andrew - working on various problem fixes Sam, Dan, and Rupert - pretty much the same as the Projects Team, Brightview phase 2 bug fixing Colin - finalising bits and pieces for the upgrade of Wordpress on the Community Site to version 2.5.1, working on some Brightview phase 2 stuff, and also performed a code review for me Kelly - meetings, meetings, and yet more meetings I've been documenting the Customer Generated Content app in UML, checking, testing and modifying the app as I go through it. My piece of advice for the day: If you are experiencing good weather where ever you are.....enjoy it as much as possible. James.

That looks like it for the submissions today, and it's now 17.30 so it's time to go home now. Colin
