My wife and I have been playing multiplayer games together and just recently she's started getting disconnected when we play. We were looking at what potential issues there might be and it seems like we're getting packet loss between us and the cabinet? (the third hop on these pictures) We're on normal fibre (70/20) and wondered if this was something we need to be concerned about.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

@xist What gap is there between those two screenshots - in the first one, the 'packet loss' is at the first of the BT network - possibly because it it set not to respond to pings if it is busy, the second one doesn't give any identity. These are not between you and the cabinet, and as the 3rd hop is not identified on the second screenshot, we don't know where it is, but I'm guessing it is somewhere in the BT network.
Someone with more knowledge than me on this subject - @Dan_the_Van ? - may be able to shed more light.

There's about 30 seconds gap between these two screenshots

OK - so the 'unidentified' one in shot 2 is probably the one that has an identity, but 100% 'loss' in the first one.
I would wait for @Dan_the_Van (or someone else with more knowledge in this field than me) to respond.

it could be that the routing device on the third hop is configured to not respond to ICMP traffic.

@xist Noting to be concerned about, just a device on the route not responding to pings or partially responding. Around 7mS latency to Google is not bad at all. The disconnection from games is some other issue not related to the pingplotter data.

Out of interest - are you aware of/familiar with Riverbed Technologies?

Which I said earlier.
Who or what are Riverbed Technologies? - sounds a tad random for this topic.

@greygit1 no idea who or what that is. Is it relevant?
And thanks for the assistance...it seems weird that the packet loss varies like that if it's no problem but thank you all for all the help.

Hi @xist
To be 100% clear on how to read those ping plotter graphs.
There no packet loss at node 3.
As @RealAleMadrid said It is simply no responding directly to being "pinged".
All the packets are forwarded onto the subsequent nodes.
None of the subsequent nodes show any loss.
Have a look at: https://eu.wargaming.net/support/en/products/wot/article/10617/
Regards
Richard

They manufacture and market network optimisation hardware. Stuff that isn't a modem, switch, firewall or router. They can (positively) influence the apparent end-to-end latency of a connection.
Since the OP was using ping to measure end-to-end latency...
I will drop it now

Sounds like someone used to work in network ops/support, possibly in the North West adding irrelevant information to this and other threads!
