Alleged Problems with Openreach

I have been a Plusnet customer for many years. I wish to move to Vodafone for full fibre as they provide much higher speeds than Plusnet can offer. I am attempting to make the switch on the Vodafone website but receive an error message stating they are not being provided with the necessary information from Plusnet. When I phoned Plusnet I was told that this is nothing to do with Plusnet and is a problem with Openreach. The Plusnet operator said he did not know the nature of the problem nor when it would be resolved. Has anyone else had this problem and do they know how to make any progress? Many thanks.

Re: Alleged Problems with Openreach

Sounds like it could  be a  problem with the OTS ( one touch switching  ) system..

Re: Alleged Problems with Openreach

Out of interest, what speed do you want - AFAIK, PN offer up to 900mb/s, which, unless you are a fair sized business, or a large family with multiple devices running at the same time, is sufficient.

Anyway, to your main complaint - how are you attempting to make the transfer - manually, or via the OTS procedure?

@dmd444  Vodaphone are talking absolute rubbish, they order a service from Openreach, they have no contact with Plusnet. What speed can Vodaphone offer, Plusnet's best offer is 900Mbps. If it's Openreach FTTP then up to 1.6Gbps may be available in some locations.

Re: Alleged Problems with Openreach

I thought these issues where a result a discrepancy between Openreach and Royal Mail databases and was resolved with plusnet initialising with Openreach a Data Integrity (ORDI) check.

Could well be, @Dan_the_Van , but it could be an OTS problem - unrelated - we don't really have sufficient detail to tell one way or another - I don't think. 😃

@Dan_the_Van  Not sure if we know what the actual issue is at this stage, where is this error message coming from, it's not very clear what the problem is.🤔

@RealAleMadrid @jab1

 Yes we don't know what the issue is, but it may or not be the cause, but still worth checking?

Re: Alleged Problems with Openreach

Hi - Many thanks for taking the time to respond. Vodafone is offering 1.6gb/s which is ideal for my business. I am using the OTS procedure.

Re: Alleged Problems with Openreach

Sounds more like the OP is trying to move from plusnet ADSL to Vodafone FTTP hence plusnet arn't supplying the ONT details as there isnt one?

Yep, having just noticed the 'ADSL'  tag at the bottom of the initial post, @iannewson , I'm wondering if you're onto something there. 😉

@dmd444  are you also attempting to move your Plusnet landline phone number to Vodafone at the same time ?

Re: Alleged Problems with Openreach

Just an after thought here, they say voda can supply 1.6gig. bit to get the full service you would need a 2.5gb network card to achieve the full speed

Re: Alleged Problems with Openreach

@Shep41

Even without the capability to run a wired ethernet connection at 2.5gb does not mean the network would not benefit from the extra bandwidth provided by the Full Fibre connection of 1.6 gbps
