@Dan_the_Van good idea! Whilst it might not 'prove' its an IP issue , it will certainly prove whether its a port issue.
@seebee useful information

@seebee thanks, that's good to know. I wonder what is different for me then, the only thing I can think is the router?

@GavB well i never, it is the router🙄
Looks like it can be fixed by disabling the NetBios filter though

@GavB you might want to let your IT support know about the issue with Fritzbox routers in case they have other users of them.
Although I suspect they will either not be interested or won't understand🙄

Thanks, yes I told them and they said "That's very interesting, We have seen a lot of internet suppliers blocking the port 445 But I will add this to the knowledge hub for future reference." which to me sounds like "I have no idea what that means" 😂
I've posted it to our group chat too and hopefully this forum thread will help others who are having similar issues.
The Fritz!Box was very expensive when I bought it but it has been pretty darn good on the whole.

They obviously haven't a clue - in your case, and I suspect others, it isn't the ISP blocking access, it it is your modem/router.

In fairness you won't find many, if any, 'home quality routers' in IT departments. Unless the routers are supplied by the Company for remote users then staff knowledge will be based on their own systems at home.

Fair enough, @Champnet , but I would have thought they could ask which modem/routers were being used, and as someone (can't remember who), on here has done, check the specs of said hardware?
