Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue where it appears as though my line speed is being capped somewhere. I'd previously experienced performance issues due to poor quality extension wiring limiting my connection speed to around 30mbit.
On my DrayTek Vigor 2760 router, the DSL statistics page showed the downstream "Attainable Rate" and "Actual Rate" to be the same value of around 30mbit.
After disconnecting the problematic extension wiring, the router now reports an "Attainable Rate" of around 67127kbit downstream, 12234kbit however the "Actual Rate" is showing as 39998kbit downstream, 9995kbit with speed test results of around 33.29mbit down, 9.19mbit up.
I have attached a screenshot of the DrayTek's DSL Statistics page.
I also recently upgraded my package from an old "Unlimited Fibre" plan (non-"Extra") to the new "PlusNet Fibre" package but the speed, nor the "Actual Rate" reported by the router have changed.
Is it possible that my speed has been capped somewhere due to the historical line issues?
Thanks

@grayfamily15 I would say you are for some reason still on a capped 40 Mbps down 10 Mbps up service which was the Unlimited Fibre product. You need to query Plusnet about this. The new "fibre" product which is of course is not actually fibre to the premises, but still FTTC should be an up to 80/20 connection, which at the moment yours is obviously not.

Hi @grayfamily15, I've checked over your account and the speeds you're getting are the correct ones as the max speed you're signed up for is 40Mpbs. You can upgrade to 80Mbps on your online account if you do want to have faster speeds.

@csmith94 If the OP is on the SoGEA FTTC as they claim, then they should be seeing the higher speeds?

@csmith94 I thought that all Plusnet "Fibre" SOGEA connections were supplied at 80Mbps down / 20 Mbps up. Is that not the case?

Yes and No.
ISTR that if the line estimates are significantly less than the 40/10 then the line MAY be provisioned on a 40/10 profile.
IT may be that with the OP's original line problem, the estimate was low and so it was provisioned on 40/10.
Either way Fibre (SoGEA) IS an up to 80/20 product and so the OP's line should be reprofiled by staff now at 80/20
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
