Broadband signal dropping in the evenings

My wife and I both WFH and the kids regularly have on-demand services running on the TV during the day. We usually get a good service in the day time

Issue is in the evening the broadband keeps dropping, when we settle down to watch something on one of the on-demand services - iPlayer seems to be the worst. This typically happens between the hours of 8 and 11pm.

Resetting doesnt work, but if I switch off and uplug the router, it seems to work for a couple of days.

The router itself is now probably 5 years old. Does it need replacing by PlusNet?

@nollag2006 I suspect from your description that this is little, if anything, to do with the router - which one BTW - and more to do with network congestion - the times you experience this issue tend to confirm that.

Are you still in contract? If so when does it finish?

@nollag2006

This is not a symptom of a hub ‘wearing out’.

Are you connected by Ethernet cable or wireless? I ask because this sounds like a wireless problem.

Are you getting consistent performance over an Ethernet cable?

@nollag2006

So is the TV using either Ethernet or wireless?

The key question is: Is it dropping when connected by Ethernet and if so are the lights on your hub changing at the time? If so what are they doing and which hub have you got.
