@jab1 this is what i've been trying to do. I called them yesterday to do the reset and I was suppose to get a call back at 7pm it was arranged. they didn't call. I work 7am to 6:30pm i cant sit on the phone to them during those hours.

OK - do you work seven days a  week? If not, call them on a day you don't work, get them to read the notes on the account, tell them they have tried all the 'easy', scripted ideas, none of them have worked, and the only way to solve this is to get Openreach to actually get boots on the ground and find the fault in their network.

@jab1 I do believe its internal issue , I'm curious to know what you would be doing in same situation.

Re: Broadband speed capped at 22mb

I believe it is an external issue, as you have demonstrated the problem still exists when you use the test socket, which eliminates all but the router and your computer.

Re: Broadband speed capped at 22mb

@jab1  EXACTLY !

The modem stats both in the faceplate and TEST socket are showing significant noise on the external landline.

Considering this topic started as - this line has never been better than 20Mbps ...  NOW it's up to 30Mbps.  Progress.

This line still looks like it could achieve 50 to 60Mbps if that external noise was eliminated. GET AN ENGINEER TO FIX IT

Yes the internal wiring and general setup could be improved, but wouldn't account for the missing 20 to 30Mbps

As you've done the DLM reset, and the line is now free from artificial speed restriction, and the SNRM is showing a true value,

If you wanted to do something useful right now, I suggest starting a "troubleshoot by text" automated line test -

Re: Broadband speed capped at 22mb

I'm not against an engineer to fix it, its actually the thing I've wanted from the start but since they didn't call back and was to late for me to chase it (as they take forever to pick up due to being busy) since they shut at 8pm I'm just thinking of other ideas such as the distance the line comes in to the socket , through the eves along with other electrical cabling next to it . But yes Id rather an engineer came out its what i've wanted tried to do since I called.

Good idea, @outcast - just hope it comes up with the correct result this time, and identifies that there is a fault in the OR network.

That is the only thing which WILL fix it - or should.

I'm confused ? ? ?

Did I miss something ?

Has the "troubleshoot by text" actually been attempted in this topic ? or did I miss that ?

Re: Broadband speed capped at 22mb

No text trouble shoot was done before this topic, I did try that text trouble shoot when suggested and it was waste of time to be honest. You might be right about the issue being external but I'm messaging on here to eliminate other internal issues as I cant exactly call now to book for an engineer. I thought it would have been booked tonight on the agreement of a phone call back to arrange it if the problem wasn't solved.

@outcast I honestly don't know - all I recall from very early on is you suggesting it, but as I have been on other topics - and forums elsewhere - I don't have a clue what has happened on here. 😀

We are correct it is external, and only Openreach can resolve it.

So what did it report ?

I don't understand how you could have used that, and not ended up with an outcome where you book an engineer appointment.

Try it again tomorrow morning.

Re: Broadband speed capped at 22mb

I've never said I did the TEXT bot before I messaged on here. I was just eliminating options while I cant phone to arrange for an engineer that WILL defiantly fix the issue but maybe not in layman terms.

The result came back from the bot the line is in good working order.

Re: Broadband speed capped at 22mb

Me neither, @outcast , but I get the impression that OR make ISPs jump through so many hoops that they make customers do the same.

When I was on FTTC with Zen, Connect Fibre were up and down my local poles and borked the connection - twice. On both occasions, they wouldn't send an engineer to fix it until I had tried another router, even though both Zen and I knew what the issue was, but I still had to go through the pantomime.
