Re: Broadband speed slower thanis should be.

Hey @bobbob455,

I'm very sorry to hear that you're experiencing similar issues with your speeds. When you've tested the line are you connecting to the router via Ethernet cable or over Wi-Fi? Also, have you kept the router setup within the Master Socket, or have you reconnected the extension socket that you'd mentioned?

Re: Broadband speed slower thanis should be.

My router is connected to an extension cable, which is connected to the master socket. I had another extension in a bedroom, this was disconnected by the engineer who visited. The speeds i am getting are over wifi while stood next to the router.

Re: Broadband speed slower thanis should be.

I wasn't asking for help. I was letting the IP & the staff trying to help them know that I was having the same experience, if they know it's not an isolated incident it might help resolve the matter.

Re: Broadband speed slower thanis should be.

Thanks for confirming that @bobbob455. To be honest, these two incidences are very unlikely to be connected or caused by the same problem as it were. There are a great number of different factors to be taken into consideration when investigating a speed fault and no two lines or properties, or even the local networks, are going to be the same. Still, I'd be glad to help out wherever I can!

I am conscious that further discussion here may distract from the OP's original issue - if you'd like to follow this up further, please can you open up a new thread? I'll be able to see when you've done so and I'll get back to you as soon as possible Smiley

Re: Broadband speed slower thanis should be.

Hi

jab1

"I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing slow speeds on your end. I've run some tests on your line this morning and I can see that it's currently syncing at 50.1Mbps, which is below the estimated line speeds, but at the minimum guaranteed rate. Do you have a landline phone setup within the property and If you do, can you hear any sort of background noise on the line? The reason I ask is that I can see part of this investigation had been logged as a landline fault - though that has since been resolved, our testing isn't picking up any obvious reasons for a lower speed, so I just want to make sure we're checking everything we can before proceeding at this stage."

I'm not using landline, don't have a phone Wink

I've had 3 or 4 (don't remember now) engineers coming and changing/adjusting  every possible part of my "line" from cable, sockets, even got another router from you.

According to last engineer - I can't get higher speed because - what I've got is maximum - apparantely lots of new houses/users in my area, so speed has to been split to keep happy everybody else.

When I use broadband compare website it say's I can get 70Mbps - I know it's not true, but I've had  52-54Mbps before (max)

My only problem is - that you can't keep your own promises, so you just closed the case and it's all sorted - this is how it's look like from my point of view.

Cheers.

Re: Broadband speed slower thanis should be.

@siewierzan I understand your frustration, but if you post the results of https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL , hiding your phone number, it may be useful. If what the engineer said is true, then whoever you go to for an FTTC connection will not be able to improve on your current speed.  BTW - I am not Plusnet staff.

Re: Broadband speed slower thanis should be.

Hi there @siewierzan I hope you are ok. As @jab1 said, we need to see speed test results to be able to see what you are getting. Tbh we wouldn't be able to do much on the account and then it would need an engineer out, but as you have stated the engineers have said you can't get higher speeds. I'm guessing FTTP is not available in the area?
