If you get a good engineer they will work with you. With my install they came up from the duct and then drilled off to the side of the existing copper entry point. With one of my neighbours a few weeks later they came in via the existing entry point - but then that week was when they introduced a new ONT.

 

The ONT needs to be near a power source. However, as the router connects via an ethernet cable then you have the freedom to put this where ever you want if you're happy running internal cables.

Thanks a lot for getting back to us @Dr_Troy and for keeping us updated. 

So earlier, I didn't actually run any tests on the line as I read that an engineer was en route. Now that the visit has concluded, I've run further tests on your broadband service which has uncovered a fault on the BT Network. I've passed this across to BT Wholesale and have updated the open ticket on the account. 

Our technical support team will be in touch on Monday with a further update on this. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this is inevitably causing.

Hi, do you know if BT will be still looking into this today. The connection is still offline, being a homeworker I will need to make alternative arrangements tomorrow onwards whilst it's down.

Thanks a lot for getting back to us, we actually received an update yesterday asking that we arrange an engineer visit. Please respond to the SMS that I've just sent you confirming when you might be free this week, and we'll get an Openreach engineer appointment arranged. Smiley
