Re: Buffering & Freezing

Glad you got a response from PN, although my experience makes me a little suspicious of the agents 'diagnosis'. However, it is possible, so wait until you get the new Hub and have tested it.

I'm out for a while now, but when I get back, I'll post some help so you can find the log - it would be interesting to see what it says.

To save time you will find the logs here Home >Advanced settings >Technical log >Event log

@RockStar29

To check that you are connected to the correct service, log in to the hub. The second line on the Status page is Connection Type:  can you confirm that this reports: Fibre Broadband (VDSL}

Re: Buffering & Freezing

@RockStar29

The status page is reporting your connection to be:

Downstream sync speed 63.2 Mbps

Upstream sync speed 20.0 Mbps

Are you having this problem over a wireless connection? if so, can you check your speed using an Ethernet cable between your hub and a computer? This will enable us to eliminate this being a wireless issue

Re: Buffering & Freezing

The Hub has been switch on for 14 days

The event log suggests a stable connection

01:50:39, 09 Feb. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=63182kbps, Up Rate=20000kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.2dB, Up=6.2dB

There was a PPP disconnect this morning at

07:31:42, 21 Feb. PPP: CHAP authentication succeeded
07:31:42, 21 Feb. PPP: LCP up
07:31:33, 21 Feb. PPP: LCP down

All devices are wireless with the exception of Humax box on LAN1 and a Samsung TV on LAN2

Re: Buffering & Freezing

@Baldrick1 , @Dan_the_Van  The connection uptime and speed look OK to me, but the status page only shows 8 hour 'system uptime' - is this significant?

Re: Buffering & Freezing

@jab1

There was a TR069 event

07:31:28, 21 Feb. CWMP: Session start now, server: https://pbthdm.x.x.x, Event code: 6 CONNECTION REQUEST
07:31:28, 21 Feb. CWMP: Initializing transaction for event code 6 CONNECTION REQUEST

This resulted in the PPP link down/up

CWMP -- CONNECTION REQUEST – the device responds to the server's request for a connection

As to why ?

Re: Buffering & Freezing

Cheers, @Dan_the_Van - been out, so I haven't examined the event log. Maybe it is a dodgy Hub?

Re: Buffering & Freezing

Or it could be no more than a WiFi channel clash, hence my question earlier.

Re: Buffering & Freezing

I would normally agree with that observation but it takes some doing to get a speed test result of 4.64/0.84 on a 63.2/20 connection.

A more likely explanation is that @RockStar29 's device WiFi is connected to a neighbour's ADSL router !

Re: Buffering & Freezing

@Anonymous

I agree, we can all think of many reasons why the OP is getting these results over a wireless link apart from it being a faulty hub. However to avoid going down a blind alley we first need to determine whether this is indeed a wireless problem. Hence my earlier question, which I assume @RockStar29 will answer if they want community assistance.

Re: Buffering & Freezing

Hi Folks

I am sorry for the later post, I shut down my MacBook around 3pm most days except for yesterday when I was in discussion with you all.. I think & hope I managed to answer any questions asked of me..

I had trouble signing in again this morning to my Plusnet account, & the Community, it seems I have to rest my password every time I want in..sigh!

Anyway to answer the question on can I use an ethernet cable to run a speed test, I do not have a computer with ports, my husband only uses an iPad & I have this MacBook there are NO HDMI ports let alone ethernet ports. So I have no idea how I can use the ethernet wired service...

I know someone suggested that maybe my wi-fi was connected to a neighbours ADLS or ADSL.. But as I stated I had NO problems at all until 7th February when I moved over to Plusnet.. I am in a small 1 bedroom semi-detached & I know my neighbour like myself has the Fibre Broadband..

I have learned a few things that I have noted down thanks to you all here.. And I will let you all know if things improve when the new Hub arrives.. But I am not on my computer much, just an hour at most once I sit down with a cup of tea.. Usually to FaceTime with family or shop ..

I will check in again later incase there is any other questions you have that I need to answer, but I really appreciate all the help so far... I just think I made a mistake in signing up to Plusnet.. I did so because it offered the same speeds I was getting for half the price to SKY.. I guess you really do get what you pay for..

Thank You Everyone who has contributed to this thread on my post...
