Connection slowed to <10% normal speed.

A few days ago, my plusnet connection slowed to <10% normal speed, and remains that slow.

 

(Also noticed phoneline crackles a lot.)

 

Please advise.

Hiya @siljrath 

 

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with both broadband and landline. Our test are not showing anything and we need to start with the phone line first. 

 

Can you go through the steps here and let us know how you get on?

...Time to try rattling the various plugs used at the premises? Not to forget the Master Socket - is it an NTE 5C? Try seeing if tapping the user faceplate causes phone noise. May need removing, cleaning and reseating.

Everything on https://www.plus.net/help/phone/phone-line-troubleshooting/ appears to check out okay, as far as I can ascertain.  Nothing changed with any of it.

 

I dont use the phone.  Only mentioned the crackle in passing in case that's relevant to what's causing the broadband to slow.

Alas, I know of no means to to do text messages from here.

 

Well, I did as the thing advised, turned the router off and on again, and noticed no crackle on phone line while it was restarting.  

 

Re-running speed test...

 

Annnnd back to a healthier speed.

 

Should have tried rebooting it before asking.  Smiley   Hindsight.
