Re: DLM Reset / Line Cap

Genuinely is a weird issue, but the line's not banded and well within speed estimates, so not sure what more we can do.

I'll attach below a full copy of the testing which I can see. To start with, a GEA Service Test:

GEA Test Detail
Circuit ID NA Service ID [redacted BBEU]

Test Outcome Pass
Test Outcome Code GTC_FTTC_SERVICE_0000
Description GEA service test completed and no fault found .
Main Fault Location OK
Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 76.3 Mbps
Upstream Speed 20.0 Mbps
Appointment Required N
Fault Report Advised N
NTE Power Status PowerOn
Voice Line Test Result Not Run - Unable to run
Bridge Tap Not Detected
Radio Frequency Ingress Not Detected
Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise Not Detected
Cross Talk Not Detected
Estimated Line Length In Metres -47.8
Upstream Rate Assessment Very Good
Downstream Rate Assessment Very Good
Interference Pattern Not Detected
Service Impact No Impact Observed
Home Wiring Problem Not Detected
Downstream Policing Discard Rate 0.0
Customer Traffic Level Upstream and Downstream traffic detected
Technology VDSL
Current 15Min Bin Retrains 0
Last 15Min Bin Retrains 0
DP Type External
Profile Name 0.128M-80M Downstream 5dB, Retransmission High - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Error Protection Off
Time Stamp 2022-05-10T13:45:00
Parameters MIN MAX AVG
Down Stream Line Rate 79.9 Mbps 79.9 Mbps 79.9 Mbps
Up Stream Line Rate 19.9 Mbps 19.9 Mbps 19.9 Mbps
Up Time 900.0 Sec 900.0 Sec 900.0 Sec
Retrains 0.0 0.0 0.0
Current and Last 15 Minute Bin Performance
Parameters Last Traffic Count(Upto 15 mins) Current Traffic Count(Upto 15 mins)
Start Time Stamp 2022-05-23T12:16:15Z 2022-05-23T12:31:15Z
Ingress Code Violation 1 2
Egress Code Violation 0 0
Errored Seconds 0 0
Severely Errored Seconds 0 0
Unavailable Seconds 0 0

The downstream speed here is showing 76.3mbps as this can take into account the lower than normal IP profile, if retransmission is enabled, in this case in a high state.

For good measure, I've also run a line test separately as "Voice Line Test" didn't run as part of the GEA. Line tests passed.

Looking at what we call RRT data is showing the raw sync rate at 79998.

I wonder if the Hub calculating the data rate in the same way which a GEA does? Seeing as it's exactly the same figure.

Re: DLM Reset / Line Cap

Yep, very weird.

I do have a billion router somewhere if I can find it to see what that syncs at as the hub's modem is really that is only thing left?

The openreach engineer did say he was getting 80 on his test equipment when the fault was fixed a few months back.

Re: DLM Reset / Line Cap

Yeah maybe. I'd bet that this is all caused by retransmission, which should hopefully be automatically removed soon as your line looks to be in excellent shape. Definitely worth giving your Billion modem a go if you can find it. Smiley

Re: DLM Reset / Line Cap

@Icipher My fave router is Billion. Very good router cos it got broadcom chipset as I do know the FTTC cabinet from Huawei 288 will love that Billion router!

Good luck if you find your billion router and worth a try out. Remember to powered down for 30 minutes to avoid DLM.

Re: DLM Reset / Line Cap

Good news @Gandalf DLM resynced the line during the night - getting very close to where it was before.

Going to leave it alone as far as the Billion is concerned for another week, as I have a feeling it may sync again in another few days at 79,999

Thanks again everyone for the help and input, will mark it as resolved 👍

Re: DLM Reset / Line Cap

Cheers for the update,

I'm glad to see the Hub's data rate is improving! A GEA test is now showing a full 79.9mbps sync. It'd be interesting to see if retransmission was lowered or removed completely overnight, but the profile won't update our side until tomorrow.

Snippet from the GEA Service Test:

Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 79.9 Mbps
Upstream Speed 20.0 Mbps
