DNS server issues over past few days

My router received the following 2 DNS servers at connection:

Primary DNS:    212.159.6.9
Secondary DNS:    212.159.13.49

They have both been playing up on and off for the past 24 hours, where requests are unable to be proceeded for up to a minute at a time, this happened several months ago too. The most annoying thing is we can not modify the DNS server configuration within the dhcp server on the "hubone" device, as atleast we could then set cloudflare to secondary:

@digga2

You have a typo

> server 212.158.6.9 should be > server 212.159.6.9

Which Hub are you using  Its a Hub One, have you changed it IP Address to 192.168.1.1? The default is 192.168.1.254

Re: DNS server issues over past few days

Yes, I changed the hub to 192.168.1.1 many years ago.

Looks like I queried the wrong IP in that particular cmd window, but you can atleast see the router dns time out..

Annoyingly I no longer have the command windows open to show the issues with 212.159.6.9      212.159.13.49, as I had 8 separate windows open when debuggin earlier.

I had no issues routing externally or querying the google and cloud flare dns servers, but I noticed I was unable to get DNS queries to work when querying the router, which uses dns masq and the resolvers I pasted above. When I queried those servers directly they were timing out and a bit a minute later worked without issue

Can you confirm if there were issues with requests timing out to these DNS servers and if the root cause has been addressed?

Re: DNS server issues over past few days

I am currently using a Hub two and not seeing any DNS requests timing out, I've also tried all four plusnet DNS servers and the all appear to be fine.

I believe the DNS issue a couple of weeks ago has been resolved, I was not affected by that outage.

If you are close to renewal and are considering staying with plusnet then you could renew now requesting a Hub two on which you can setup your preferred DNS servers
