Definitely IPTV Blocking Issues With Plus Net

I have just moved from BT to Plusnet. I am using the exact same hardware, I literally just changed my username and password in the router and now I cannot watch IPTV. Just doesn't load. I'm on the unlimited fibre, exactly the same speeds as the BT package I was on.

In the last 4 years with BT, again, exact same lines and hardware, I've never had an issue. What is all this about?Huh

What IPTV do you mean?

What channels. what and how are you accessing it?

Is it the same on all devices?

What router?

Re: Definitely IPTV Blocking Issues With Plus Net

I use TIVI mate and VLC player to play IPTV streams from various places. I am using my original BT router, as above, my entire setup is exactly the same. Just changed the username/password to Plusnet in the router config.

I did a test last night, and it's definitely a blocking issue/restriction on the connection because if I install a VPN on my laptop and run that, I can watch the IPTV channels fine. As soon as I stop it, the stream stops.

Like I say. Everything worked perfectly with BT, even though the packages are 'supposed' to be like for like. I have none of the parental locks etc.. on Plusnet either.

you have Plusnet Safeguard available , see https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/how-to-use-plusnet-safeguard/

as to IPTV blocking, Plusnet don't block anything. However, Your public IP will have changed with the move to Plusnet and it is possible that your IPTV  service is blocking the ip range

Re: Definitely IPTV Blocking Issues With Plus Net

There will be some (primarily court mandated) stuff that is blocked but it should broadly align with what BT do. There can be some inconsistency though IME depending on your route through the network.

If there are any particular legitimate streams that aren't working that can be shared, then a good place to start would be to see if others can replicate the problem.
