@candell

80 is the maximum on a perfect line. The Checker is telling you you should receive speeds of between 80 (high) and 67 (low). So you're pretty close to minimum and you're also above the "Handback threshold" which is the level at which OR look at faults.

Are you running your speed tests over ethernet or WiFi. The latter will always be lower - whether a little or a lotdepends on the local enviroment.

I'm still using my trusty old BT Smart Hub 2

The question is though - are you running the speed test over ethernet - with wireless turned off - or wireless?

@candell

I perhaps should also have stated that you'd never get 80, even on a perfect line. There's always some "overhead" - I think 78 is a more realistic figure.

It's not for nothing that the lowest Full Fibre speed is FF78

The router itself states the speed coming in to it

That is the connected speed - what I think @bmc is after is the result of a speed test - try https://www.speedtest.net/ and post the result.

Hmm. We live in a traditional terrace house in the city of York (which flags itself as a Gigabyte City).

We're fairly central, but the even numbered houses of our street can get 31-45Mbps from Open Reach fibre.

Odd numbers can get 15-23Mbps.

We're actually getting around 14mbps on Unlimited Fibre Extra, in our odd-numbered abode.

We'd be delgihted to be getting your speeds.

We moved in May 2015, only recently did they begin phase 2 and they have started to move in.
