Early activation

Hiya I'm just wondering when my router comes if my broadband can come on before activation date 23rd only because I have 2 children who have homework theyve had to go to a friends house to complete it and we have no signal really in the area 😑 I don't need an engineer visit its just a matter of it being turned on and activated

Re: Early activation

@Sophiiee89 I assume you are going for 'Fibre'  rather than 'Full Fibre', in which case, a question - do you currently have a service with another provider, or is this a totally new connection?

Re: Early activation

@Sophiiee89  so did you cancel directly with Sky or just request that Plusnet take over the connection ?

Re: Early activation

In that case your Sky service should continue until the transfer date.

Re: Early activation

That was my thought too, @MisterW .

Wonder if it is SKY being their usual helpful selves?

Re: Early activation

Nope they ain't done that they've turned it all off I'm not in arrears or anything they said they would work out the final bill and that would be it this is why I'm in a situation with homework and tbh they were really rude when I stated I wasn't going to have another contact with them

Re: Early activation

@Sophiiee89 Then you did tell SKY you were leaving, rather than place an order with Plusnet and let them handle the transfer?

Re: Early activation

No I had a text sent from sky stating I'm changing provider my connections will no longer be available my final bill will be sent via post so I phoned them and asked why my connections are no longer available and they stated because another company has asked for a switch I said right they said you can't have 2 connections and I stated well I will stick with who I have chose

Re: Early activation

OK. However, your SKY connection should have remained active until PN took it over, but you have, it seems, fallen foul of the devious ways SKY have of dealing with departing customers.

I have an idea what has happened her, but I will leave it to @MisterW to comment further as he is more knowledgable.

and they stated because another company has asked for a switch I said right they said you can't have 2 connections

That's correct, but they should NOT have disconnected the service UNTIL the transfer date. Once the service has actually transferred , they should then generate a final bill.

If they've disconnected the service already, then I'd raise a complaint with Sky and also contact Ofcom ( they wont actually DO anything but will record it ).

Re: Early activation

I've already emailed sky's complaints and I'm in the middle of doing ofcom just so it's recorded like you say . I'm not greatly clever but I know some rights especially with sky

Re: Early activation

Ok, to go back to your original question about early activation. It's unlikely I'm afraid!. If Sky ceased the line (which it appears they did) then Plusnet wont have been able to place an order until that cease completed. The time for activation from that order being placed will mostly depend on the availability of Openreach engineers in your area. Plusnet will have requested the earliest install date when placing the order, and its very unlikely that could be brought forward.

Have you actually been given a confirmed install date by Plusnet ?
