Estimated Speed Reduction

My ADSL line has been stable for many years (BT and PN), with 16Mb/s downlink and 0.9Mb/s up link. This was reflected in the estimated speed. Not great by modern standards but sufficient.

I now notice that the estimated speed for my line on my account page has been reduced to 5-6mb/s.

Looking at other posts, I can not help wondering if this is just to lower the limit for rasing a fault.

I don't have a problem at the moment but it would be good to know what to expect.

Fore warned is fore armed, as they say.

Can anyone expand on how the estimated speed is used?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Estimated Speed Reduction

@Archer You are correct in your assumption about the reduction in estimated speed, but if you have a fault, you can hold OR/PN to that advised to you at the start of your contract.
