Hello
Has anyone else had connection drops over this weekend more than usual?
I am on fibre and have noticed lots of dropped connections starting 11th May and was really bad on the friday where it kept dropping every 15 to 30 minutes.
It did seem to get better on the Saturday where it dropped connection every 2 to 3 hours.
I am using a tp-link Archer VR400.
I have tried the BT Line Test system and they have said they cannot see any issues on the bt line.
I have tried the BT Quiet Line Test on 17070, it was a bit crackly this morning, tried on the test socket beneath the ne5 socket and the line was clear and no crackles, replaced that and tried again and no crackles or pops so not sure what exactly is going on with the initial noise.
These line stats are pretty poor though :
Any ideas? I do not fancy an £80+ call out fee to an openreach engineer if their is nothing directly wrong with the bt line.
Are their any other tests I can do?

@dmf Welcome to the Community forums.
Do you by any chance have the latest type of BT master socket with a clip on front section? These are notorious for this type of problem, especially if the back box has been screwed down tight on an uneven surface. Either way it sounds like you have found the source of the problem.
It looks like the automatic DLM system has slowed your connection to compensate for the background crackles. Hopefully your speed will automatically recover over the coming days, week or so. Watch it and if it doesn’t start recovering then your line might have been banded. In this case come back and ask for a DLM reset.
There is no charge for Openreach call outs these days.

Hello
It is one of the NTE5 style sockets and has not been replaced at all.
Still getting annoying connection drops, now it seems to be every 40 minutes.
Most bizarre thing is I had exactly the same problem around this time last year which after a while sorted itself out which was very strange.
I will keep an eye on the connection for a couple of hours today and see what happens.

You could leave the front section off for a few days to see if that fixes it. If so, filtered faceplates are readily available and not expensive as an alternative to calling out Openreach.

Ok changed the microfilter for a new one and also plugged my plusnet router back in.
Had a few connection drops early morning.
It is now 09:44 and connection has been up for 8 hours and 23 minutes.
Have looked in event log and see a quite a few tcp reset attack entrys which the firewall is catching, not sure if these would have been causing disconnection issues when using the tp-link archer 400 router?
All very strange.

Hey @dmf I've run a test on your line, even though you've had a stable line since changing the microfilter, we're still picking up a fault. We're looking at getting you an engineer visit to investigate this. Could you private message me with available dates and times please and I can get this organised for you? The dates available are Monday to Friday, and the timeslots are between 8am to 1pm and 1pm to 6pm.
