Cheers, @R1chard - so it isn't a RAM issue then. I'm guessing you also have a big multi-core processor as well? BTW, this is just for my interest, as I obviously have never run my machines with as much load as that, but it is strange behaviour.

@jab1 Yes, it's an old one purchased in 2015: Intel Core i7-3770K @3.50GHz, quad core with hyper-threading.
