Re: Grindingly Slow New Connection

@RussH - what were the engineers conclusions - only because I'm curious?

Re: Grindingly Slow New Connection

Hello Gandalf and everyone,

Thanks again for your help. The engineer came today and put me on another line to the exchange. He reckons it is about 950m, and I had a quick test and got 34.5/8.9 Mb/s. This is with a dongle on the main socket, so unplugging a lot of ancient extension cables and using a filtered faceplate may be better still. Anyway, I am happy with that.

Sorry, was just replying when you sent that.

He just said it was a dodgy line to the exchange. My cable goes under the road to a below ground junction box in the pavement opposite, then above ground to the exchange. I might be able to eke out a bit more when I tidy up the cabling in the house.

Kind of guessed that, @RussH  - no problem 😀

Those 'dodgy lines' do cause problems - I had similar many years ago - but it was good he could find a spare line.

Hi Russ,

Cheers for the update, I'm glad to see the engineer's efforts has got your speed up to where it should be.
