Guaranteed minimum speed reduced. Can I cancel without charge

When I renewed my contract for 18 months on 24/2/22 my minimum guaranteed speed was 37.7mb, now it is showing as 36.5mb. Can I cancel my contract without having to pay any early cancellation fees. At the end of 2021 after Openreach replaced the cables for the village my speed was over 50mb now I am lucky to get 43mb.

The way in which minimum guaranteed speed is calculated seems to have changed. However I believe Plusnet will honour the speed stated at the start of the contract. In your case , the actual speed seems to be in excess of that and so I wouldnt expect them to allow cancellation without ETC's. Even if it was below, they still wouldnt allow cancellation until given an opportunity to correct it.

The guaranteed minimum speed (MGS) in you contract stands for the duration of your contract, despite later revisions.

If this MGS.cannot be achieved, from memory, 30 days after you have reported a speed fault to Plusnet then you can ask to be released from the contract without termination charges.

As currently your speed exceeds you MGS the answer in no.

Just to be clear are you saying your original contract guaranteed 37.7, the renewed contract guarantees 36.5, and you actually get 43 which is in excess of either? If so then what's the problem, and how would cancelling help you?
