Help Please

Hi All

       Over the past week my router keeps flashing red and the B is highlighted in red also,Ive had a line check done and Plusnet have said they have found no problem? I've been with plusnet for over a year now and it only the past week its been playing up,the internet just drops out, I then turn the router off and it comes back on fine, its really being a pain in the bum now, any help would be great.

Re: Help Please

@Marky2022 Welcome to the forums. If you come back here, try resetting your Hub - push a paper-clip or similar into the reset hole on the bottom/back of the Hub, hold it closed for ~30 seconds, release and let the Hub restart - takes about 10 minutes.

If this doesn't work, come back and let us know - it may not, as there could be issues elsewhere, or I could have missed something.

Re: Help Please

No - better idea, ring in and ask if support can see anything untoward on the wider network, or your local one. Sounds like an external fault, although @Dan_the_Van might have a suggestion if he's around, he knows more about the Hubs workings than I do.

Re: Help Please

@Marky2022

Did Plusnet support see the device dropping it's connection?

Have you noticed if the LED goes green after it fails as this would indicate a reboot has occurred. LED status meanings

Depending on the ambient light I would say Orange and Red can be difficult to differentiate.

Can you check the Hub One event log, from the home page http://192.168.1.254 navigate to Troubleshooting >Event Log look for watchdog reset (cause 0xn n = 0,1,2 or 3) message around the time the fault occurred, this could indicate your Hub One is failing.

Re: Help Please

@Marky2022

It might also be a phone line or broadband fault. Look at your phone line first and then Broadband.

Re: Help Please

@Dan_the_Van Yup, could be a failing Hub, or an external fault that the checks phone support do that don't show it.

@Marky2022 How old is your Hub? Also from your Hub, could post your Help Desk page, and if you can the WAN log. Sorry, but belt and braces data helps other Community members to offer advice in the absence of PN staff.

Re: Help Please

Hi there,

I'm really sorry to see you're having connection issues. I can see you've rang us over the weekend and we've arranged an engineer to visit you on Wednesday. However, our suppliers are actually already aware of an external problem, so they've cancelled the appointment which means the engineer likely won't be visiting you.

We'll update you as soon as we know more via the ticket which we've logged Here.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
