I thought I was with Plusnet.

Why is it that what is my IP today (6th February 23) shows the following ?

Looks like; as usual, someone doesn't bother to to do correct name data entry when they use a new IP Block.

WHO the hell are BT Americas Inc. (A BT global services company serving USA and Canada !!!!!)

I thought I was with Plusnet

My Public IPv4 is: 150.143.36.134

My Public IPv6 is: Not Detected

My IP Location is: London, ENG GB

My ISP is: BT Americas Inc.

Re: I thought I was with Plusnet.

@Edward_Snowden You are still a Plusnet customer - BT in the UK have had a number of IP blocks  transferred to them from the States - as is obvious from the IP location data in your post. However, this data is not always fully corrected.

Where did you get that information from?

Re: I thought I was with Plusnet.

Fix

Thank you for your rapid response John,

Data from where ?  My Router /PC and any ip and AS lookup site will show the info. BT Americas Inc. ??????? REALLY  ????Huh

What are 'not so savvy' Plusnet Customers supposed to think ?

The AS lookup clearly shows it is a  Plusnet.address block

My point was;  to show the incompetence (unable to do do the job they are being PAID to do !) of the person doing the data entry when registering / transferring the block to Plusnet.

Just another example of sloppy work practices these days in the UK in general.

I would have been SACKED if I did that, when configuring Networks in my past life.

NOT acceptable. Poor show.

Re: I thought I was with Plusnet.

@Edward_Snowden It is ISP location Service providers who are at fault - I checked your IP after posting my answer, and of the six referenced in my source, only one had  100%accurate information - although they all correctly identified the 'country'  location as 'UK'

Re: I thought I was with Plusnet.

@Edward_Snowden  'not so savvy' users won't be doing an IP address lookup in the first place 😎
