Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

thanks for the quick help, i hope so,  I'm a csgo player so pings are really important to me,  I'm look into getting fiber to the property as i think plusnet added this recently and this has no interleaving at all? and also maybe also a tiny bit less latency? only problem is you lose the landline it seems.

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

No problem, as RealAleMadrid suggested, we don't have control over individual settings for an FTTC line, so we would not have added interleaving. It will have been due to DLM changing the settings on your line in response to error rates etc.

Full Fibre doesn't use DLM so there'd be no interleaving to worry about here and if you'd want to keep your landline while upgrading then we can sign you up to BT as a way of cancelling your account with no cancellation charges.

I'll be happy to arrange for someone to call you back if you'd like to talk about upgrading. Smiley

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

Ok something weird is going on now, the connection has been dropping several times today and each time it comes back up the speed is slower

its currently at

DSL uptime:0 Days 1 Hr 53 Mins
Data rate:12.653 Mbps / 42.294 Mbps
Maximum data rate:12.470 Mbps / 48.249 Mbps
Noise margin:6.0 / 5.6
Line attenuation:34.8 / 39.7
Signal attenuation:4.7 / 40.5

no idea how or why all the stats have changed so much and now the speed has pretty much  halved Sad
maybe its retraining or something?

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

@papawaigo  You now have a line fault, the line attenuation has increased dramatically which only happens when there is a physical connection problem. Report it using the text based fault checker in help and support.

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

I agree, testing your line now is showing a high resistance fault.

Is your hub plugged into the master telephone socket using the cables with provided? If so would you be able to try plugging it into what's known as the test socket explained Here?

Should rule out any internal wiring before we potentially arrange an engineer visit to investigate further.

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

so today its up to 62 now

DSL uptime:0 Days 11 Hrs 51 Mins
Data rate:20 Mbps / 62.92 Mbps
Maximum data rate:24.928 Mbps / 111.570 Mbps
Noise margin:6.7 / 13.2
Line attenuation:4.2 / 9.1
Signal attenuation:4.2 / 10.5

it's a brand-new hub 2 (month old) plugged into the main socket via a rj11 cat5e twisted shielded cable, my socket has 2 slots one for the phone line above the internet socket.
I checked it's all plugged in correct, and the cable looks good, not very old

i tried a line quiet test which was fine also

seems im now on full interleaving 2 as pings have gone up another 8ms now at 27ms to the bbc.co.uk

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

Thanks for the info!

Would you be able to try the test socket? That'd rule out an issue with the faceplate.

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

My master socket doesn't have any screws like that one, its an all in one piece of plastic with 2 slots left and right for internet and phone.

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

If it's an Openreach 5C then there'll be two clips which hold the faceplate onto the socket. Unclipping the faceplate off will reveal the test socket in the centre which you can plug your router/phone into using a microfilter. Smiley

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

@papawaigo In that case, push in the tabs on the side of the front plate and gently pull it off.

You're too quick, @Gandalf  😉

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

Ok so the socket is installed right next to the wall with no gap, so only one side you can access the clips so i can't remove the face plate,

i did take the brand new rj11 cable from the hub 2 box and tested with that only and no phone line connected, here are the stats

DSL uptime:0 Days 0 Hrs 0 Mins
Data rate:20 Mbps / 63.012 Mbps
Maximum data rate:25.803 Mbps / 111.927 Mbps
Noise margin:6.8 / 13.2
Line attenuation:4.1 / 8.9
Signal attenuation:4.1 / 10.2

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

Oh I see, maybe it's best to arrange an engineer to take a closer look. Although it's possible they'd need to access the test socket. Was the socket installed by an Openreach engineer in that position right next to the wall?

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

Yes , I think the old one had 2 screws on the front so it may of made sense but I guess they just popped this new style one on top of the old one instead of having to reposition it away from the wall.

Re: Interleaving problem, fastpath request

Ah okay. Can I arrange an engineer visit with you? If so when could you be around? The engineers work weekdays and occasionally Saturday's 8am to 1pm or 1pm to 6pm.
