I recently changed to a static IP and at first everything worked as normal but for the past few days I have had problems with certain pages taking a long time to load or timing out. Most problematic are sites that need authentication like banks or need to download data to my computer. Sometimes they work but the next time I try to access them they won't connect at all. An IP lookup confirms the address is static but gives my location variously as Shedfield, Handsworth Birmingham and Near Rowlands Gill Gateshead.
Any help would be appreciated.

I could normally use my Google nest to listen to Radio 4 by saying 'play Radio 4 from the BBC' now I get the response 'I don't know but I found these results on search'

plusnet.net is not plus net your ISP, I would trace to something like the bbc or google

@SteveR - you were once issued with a Hub One with serial number ending 357.
Where is this hub now?

I am using a Huawei HG612 with an Asus rt-ac66u b1 router. Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago, I have rebooted everything several times with no change. I don't have the Plusnet hub any longer.

Does somebody else though? I suspect the answer is yes, and I also suspect this is what's contributing to your problem
The hub is still very much associated with your account. If it has been sold/given to another Plusnet customer, then there's a good chance they are connecting to the network using your broadband account credentials, and thus are being assigned your static IP address.
Two hosts on the public broadband network with the same IP address is going to lead to exactly the symptoms you are reporting.

You could be right there, I think I passed it on to my sister when she upgraded to FTTC several years ago as she had the old hub at that time. Is it possible for you to associate it with her account without breaking her internet? I can give you her login detais, I believe I am registered with you to help with her account. Unfortunately I don't visit her very often to configure it manually.

Thanks so much for your help Bob, I will test everything and let you know if it all works. My sister does not use the internet much so hopefully she won't notice anything.
