Is there a network problem? Only getting 3Mbps down

Sometime this evening I noticed that browsing the web was really slow. Seems I'm only getting about 3Mbps down, although my router is connecting at the usual 70Mbps. I'm still getting about 18Mbps up, as expected.

I've restarted the router and checked everything here.

Multiple speed tests keep reporting the same low speed. Nothing else here is using the internet.

Can report the same experience here.  I started a thread over in the Fibre section about it.

Yeah, just seen your post.

Not a local issue then. Usually it's BT mucking about with the local exchange when something goes wrong for me, but that's usually a full loss of service.

@LordFox , @Mewcenary  - your incidents most likely are not related, you are on different technologies/

Speed is all over the place from 7mbps to 23mbps ( minimum is meant to be 29.5 )

each time i test it jumps up and down

Re: Is there a network problem? Only getting 3Mbps down

To add to the list, Maldon exchange ADSL.

Router is happily synced at the usual 24Mb & 7dB SNR (yes the exchange is like 100 yards away).

100Mb wired in house connections, sole device, wi-fi turned off.

Unable to video stream in SD (BBC, YouTube etc)

Real speedtest from OOKLA - 2MB.  Feels correct

Use BT Wholesale speedtest gets '19MB' - which is clearly not correct as the internet speed, just the link to the exchange.

Something very broken in the main pipes, and why does the BT checker lie ?

Agree, same here earlier using speedtest.net (looking bit better now). Was getting 10:1 ratio differences in download speed tests earlier...

Re: Is there a network problem? Only getting 3Mbps down

I’m having the same problem since beginning of April, spoke to them numerous times just keep blaming Wi-Fi,

they have changed the why they send out open reach now has to be approved by their fault department

@Mick4 Your problem has nothing to do with last nights hiccup. If you want help from the Community, please start your own topic on the correct board, and we will see if we can help.
