Thanks, just been reading about it, it seems better for handling many devices and a better range for Wi-Fi. I don’t use Wi-Fi and only have one device. I have lived happily without the other things, not sure what they are anyway, so I’ll stick to hub one. Thanks for the information.

But the Hub1 will receive no more firmware updates.

Why do you say that John?
As long as it is not too old and still on the PN management platform it will still get updates.

@Mustrum Because, AIUI, the Hub1 is superseded by the Hub2 and as far as I can recall, has not been updated since Dec 2021.

You explained in a previous post hub one would work with SOGEA? I’ve only had it a few years.

@jab1 I don't believe they are end of service and no longer supported, and no updates could also mean none are needed.
Were it me I would take a new Hub2 in case the Hub1 breaks, but carry on using the Hub1 if it works and does all the OP needs.,

@WorldMachine It will work - just not receive any firmware updates.

@jab1 you can't say that with any authority - there are still thousands of Hun1's and BT HH5's out there.
It may not, but if it works, until PN say it is no longer supported, I would happily carry on using one - if it suited me.

As I'm not a PN customer, and have never used the Hubs anyway, I will refrain from further comment except to say I don't believe they are issued any more. I didn't say they are no longer supported, but I have noticed when people have had Hub1's replaced, it has always been with a 2.

Yes, I don’t fancy forking out an extra £7 quid a month. I do have a spare new hub one in case of faults and I can always upgrade in the future. Thanks guys for the help, it has been quite an education.

@WorldMachine The £7.00 is a one-off P&P charge.

it's not £7/ month it's a one-off £6.99 to cover postage

Ok, I didn’t realise that. I’ll probably upgrade then seeing as I will be able to disable the Wi-Fi.

I have a date arranged to switch to SOGEA and have gone for a new hub two router. I’ve watched a video on how to set this up and it refers to plugging the router into the phone socket. I’m assuming with SOGEA I would not need to do this??

SOGEA is FTTC without the land line phone connection, still delivered over copper cable. So the only thing you disconnect are the land line phones, the Hub stays connected to the Openreach Master Socket
