Re: Line fault - Late Saturday evening

Agreed, @Baldrick1 , but it is still a 'horrible line' in respect of what it can provide.

Re: Line fault - Late Saturday evening

I know it's a horrible line, it's been nothing but trouble for the 20+ years I've lived here lol.

My Plusnet minimum guaranteed download speed is 22.4

Thankfully I have fairly limited needs speed ways, I live on my own so if it can stream 1080 for one person without interruption/buffering then I'm good, not much to ask but atm I can only do 480 though that's almost certainly being caused by the line fault. It's the frequent disconnections that bug me most, on a bad evening it could happen 6 times. Other evenings things are fine. Maybe the cable that is now broken was flexing and making and breaking and causing the disconnections, fingers crossed.

As for full fibre that is never going to happen, i live on a concrete lane around 300yds from a very rural road, none of the house's on that road have an option for full fibre either.

Thanks for all your contributions, I'll let you know when the line is repaired and hopefully I'm back to using my HH6 (Because all my wifi things are connected to it)

@mrtullyhubbert

Have you got mobile reception out there in the wilds? Mobile data is not that expensive these days.

Wilds? I'll have you know I live 8 miles from Belfast City Centre ... oh right, fair point Smiley

Tesco/O2 LTE, average of 3 speed tests = 7.9 down and 2.8 up. Worst test 6 & 0.3!!! EE is worse, not tested Voda or 3.

Re: Line fault - Late Saturday evening

Came in this evening to find my landline has a dial tone again, great I thought that'll be me sorted. Sadly not, a speed test saya 6.5 down 1.5 up Sad I've had no texts to say anyone has been working on or repaired the line so maybe it's just working 'on a wing and a prayer' patience Smiley

@mrtullyhubbert Which modem/router are you using? Might be useful to see the connection details.

Openreach Modem and HH4. I had a look last week and couldn't find any line stats though I'm no expert. I put it down to the fact the HH4 doesn't have a modem, though I might be way off there?

Re: Line fault - Late Saturday evening

That's a shame - I have zero knowledge of that (old) set-up or kit, so can't help. Maybe @Baldrick1 can help here?

"FTTP On Demand is a different product and costs a 5 figure sum to install."

My understanding is that the five-figure sum is just a (minimum) starting point.

I could be wrong, tho.

Some people have only been charged a four-figure sum.  Tongue

@greygit  Yes you are wrong, some but probably not many have had FTTPoD installed for around £3K.

Re: Line fault - Late Saturday evening

Update:

I received an SMS message on Saturday evening that said "Your fault is currently under investigation with our suppliers and has an estimate response time of 06/07/22 by 23:59:59, due to this we will hold this ticket till after this time.

If there are any further updates on the fault in the mean time we will release this ticket.

Fault ref - TR0000014908614"

Hot on the heels of that message I received this one. "Placing on hold for ERT

If there is anything else that we can help with then please do not hesitate to get back in touch. You can reply to this ticket through the Member Centre Contact us facility or you can call us on 0800 432 0200

This Question is now on hold until Wednesday 6th July at 11:00pm"

The ticket hasn't been updated since Saturday evening. What is ERT btw?

On Monday evening I came home to find the landline was working again but the speedtest was still really bad. I just tried again and it's still really poor though the upload is a little better. See attached file. So unless something happens this evening (And I doubt there will be any engineers working tonight) it looks like I'll be having to get in contact tomorrow regarding poor down & upload speeds <sigh>

@mrtullyhubbert Can you please post the results of the 'Advanced Diagnostics' from this link  BT Broadband - it is much more useful.
