I am currently on a 12 month basic broadband plan (72mbps) with 5 months left on the contract. I am looking to upgrade this now to 900mbps since I noticed last year the options had now become available. However all of the upgrade options for me state a 24 month contract and since I am renting the property I am at I would rather not be tied into a 24 month contract that I would then likely have to pay a hefty cancellation fee to break when the landlord decides to not renew our tenancy.
I understand I will need an engineer out to do work to the property and that I will have to wait around a month before that can happen, but I would really like to not be tied into such a long contract since I've had the same happen in the past and then been hit with a massive cancellation fee even when I had told the old ISP I would just pay it off month by month even if the new tenants won't use it.

Full fibre Installations require significantly more engineering effort and so Openreach charges to ISPs are higher than normal fttc. In order for ISPs to cover these , they tend to insist on 24m contracts.
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

As you're im a rented property you should confirm with the owner that they are happy for an Optical Network Terminator (ONT) to be installed on an internal wall. Generally speaking this would be near the exsisting cable entry for the phone and a power source.
You could phone the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 to discuss the matter. Shorter contracts may be available but at a higher monthly price.
I assume you're aware you'll lose your phone line (check with the owner) and your number.
Finally, do you need the full speed as this will be the most expensive option.
