Re: Loss of ADSL Performance After Joining Plusnet

I could contacting PN CS and try insisting they do another line test, even though the data connection is currently operating beyond their estimated capacity.

@loomajoo as you infer, getting PN/Openreach to do something may be difficult in the circumstances

In any case, I've accepted (more or less) that the SNR is not going to be lowered below 6dB, so best case I can expect is a reduced download rate from what I've been used to.

I have a thought, some routers ( unfortunately not the PN Hub 1 or Hub 2 ) will allow you to 'force' a lower target SNR value if you really want to increase your speed. In fact I have a Draytek 2830n which apparently (https://www.draytek.com/support/knowledge-base/4800) does have the ability and you're welcome to it if you can arrange collection. Its only 2.4ghz wireless but that's probably not a problem at ADSL speeds. PM me if you're interested.

@MisterW just wanted to say that that is a very helpful and generous offer - thank you.

I'm aware of the above approach (ref Billion 7800N?) but not many routers provide that facility these days. I will give your offer some thought (I dont want to take your router if I cannot put it to use) and will PM you if I decide to give that method a try.

Meantime, the logged HubOne SNR dropped (smoothly) from ~6.5dB to ~4.5dB between 7-9PM last night but is yet to show much sign of recovery as I write (~9AM). The HubOne has not resynced since reconnecting & rebooting it yesterday  (~5PM), so for now it looks stable (but will continue to monitor)...

@MisterW @Townman @jab1  Can any of you comment on the low-level mains hum I heard on the QLT? In my engineering experience, mains cross-talk can be notoriously difficult to elliminate entirely, so do I have a valid case for reporting a noise issue on my line, to PN?

This thread https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=19946.0 suggests nothing at all should be heard (reply #1).
