New Customer - Fibre Banded

Hi there.

My FTTC went live on Monday after switching from Sky, but my connection appears to be fixed at 40Mbps when you would normally be running tests to get the best out of it.

Any idea why this has happened, and are you able to remove this fixed limit for me?

Thanks in advance.

@mobymatt Welcome to the forums. Did you sign up for 'Unlimited fibre' or 'Unlimited fibre Extra'. Screen shots of BT Broadband  and BTW Performance Tester would be useful.

Re: New Customer - Fibre Banded

Looks like the browser was the issue. I am on Fibre Extra.

Re: New Customer - Fibre Banded

Are you sure you are on Fibre Extra - those results look like the 40/10 - basic fibre - to me.

Re: New Customer - Fibre Banded

Yup - you are on Extra, but it looks like something has gone wrong - even with what looks to be a longish 'final mile' of copper, those figures suggest an error somewhere. This needs PN Help Team investigation.

Re: New Customer - Fibre Banded

1/2 mile (so about 800ft) by foot to the cab if the routing follows the roads...

Re: New Customer - Fibre Banded

880 YARDS for 1/2 mile, so you are a distance from the cab.

Yuk - with those figures, I would have gone for plain unlimited fibre - 40/10 - although your attenuation figures suggest you should be able to get better.

Re: New Customer - Fibre Banded

When I was with Sky I used to get in the high 50's / low 60's, but had a problem about 9 months ago that caused disconnections and a speed drop. I eventually found it was a cable fault and changed it. I then saw an increase but as soon as it hit dead-on 40 then no more increases. As this was over 33 there would be no incentive for Sky to push it.

I think the line is banded, and that Openreach have not removed it to allow for DLM to do it's thing.

Re: New Customer - Fibre Banded

It may be a 'banded' case, but this will need to be confirmed by one of the Help Team.
