Hi,
I am currently on Unlimited Fibre Extra paying almost £30 a month. I have just been given the option to 'upgrade' to Fibre (without a landline) for £25.99 a month. A few questions:
- Is 'Fibre' unlimited like my existing package?
- Why is losing a landline seen as an upgrade?
- Will the new package be the same or better speed?
- 'Now Superfast' are offering me the same speed AND to keep my landline for £22 a month. Why should I stay with Plusnet?
All information is much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Fixed! Go to the fix.

In a victory for the marketing people over common sense FTTC is known as Fibre and FTTP is known as Full Fibre.
Your internet will be supplied exactly as before - fibe optic to the FTTC cabinet and then the copper wire to your house. The only difference is PN would now supply you using a product called SOGEA - this is for internet only with no landline.
Do you need your landline? If so, you can renew as is but you'd need to phone PN to do so. Try the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 to speak about your options.
Are you sure the "Now Superfast" offer includes a copper landline and isn't VOIP? I don't see how it could be as OpenReach have a national Stop / Sell on new copper based phone services.

It will be VoIP, but at least VoIP is available from Now so the landline number continues - unlike with any change to a Plusnet package.

Pretty sure it said landline - but VoIP will work fine. Yes, would prefer to keep my landline.
Will give it some thought, as it looks like I'm getting much less for a tiny reduction in rental costs.

From what I can see Now Broadband is basically Sky Broadband with a reduced price.
The reference to landline is not to the delivery method (copper) but via the internet (VoIP) to call landline phone numbers
example 01nnn nnnnnn
Internet-based calls means the phone calls are made through the internet/Wifi,
rather than through a regular landline or mobile network.
If your broadband power fails you won't be able to make any calls.
*Wifi would be the routers wireless signal.
