No internet can mean there is no default gateway set or DNS is incorrect
If using windows what are the network settings as displayed using IPCONFIG -all
These are the significant lines

Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.nnn <---- the devices IP address
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 <---- network mask
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 <---- IP Address of the Hub
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 <---- IP Address of the Hub
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 <---- IP Address of the Hub

Ok, dont know if i've done this right, the top two are from the laptop plugged into the back of the rotuer,
and the bottom one is from my laptop which is accessing wifi from a wifi extender, keep in mind it wont connect to the router but will to the extender.
thanks

Just been reading some stuff online and its a very similar problem to this https://www.reddit.com/r/linux4noobs/comments/18wjtqq/can_connect_to_wifi_extender_but_not_router/?r...
I have two extenders and my devices will only connect to one of the extenders the other doesnt. So could this be due to the first response around IP range and DHCP client, I am unsure how to change this on plusnet is it to do with Authoritative DHCP? Should i turn it off?

I am guessing this is a Hub Two?
What is the make and model of wifi extender you are using, what IP Address does it currently have? Manually configured or using DHCP?
The Hub Two only has three LAN ports, you are not using the WAN port in error? The IP Address of the ethernet connection starts 169.254.... which is an address a network interface assumes if there is a network but no DHCP server.
One the Hub two looking at the broadband user name found >Advanced Settings >Broadband is it yours or setup@plusdsl.net
EDIT: you should only have one DHCP server on a network, I would use the Hub's

Yes this is a hub two,
The wifi extender is a TP-Link TL-WA850RE, IP 192.168.1.117
And the ethernet was not plugged into the WAN port.
On the hub it is no setup@plusdl, it is the login.
And since my last message the ethernet has now connected on my laptop from the router, I can connect to the router wifi. This is the Ipconfig- all from the ethernet laptop.
I havent touched anything, I just dont understand why is has now started working properly? But it will likely go again like it has done numerous times

Are you using the TP-Link TL-WA850RE as an
Access point this using an ethernet cable between it and the Hub LAN port
or
Range Extender this uses a wifi signal, so a WiFi device on the hubs 2.4GHz band.
IP Address are you assigning one or getting one automatically from the Hub?
Are all your devices using DHCP (getting IP Address automatically)? I am concerned there maybe a duplicate IP Address which could cause this hence the question.
If you go back to just using the Hub with the extenders turned off, does it all work?

I have used it as a ethernet port, but when i did I had no issues with it, also just tried unplugging the wifi extender which had internet and they've kind of switched so the downstairs wifi extende doesnt now have wifi, the router now has wifi which my laptop can connect to, and the upstairs wifi extdender is working.
And i am using them as both, mainly wifi so i can have wifi upstairs for phone, and maybe use the ethernet on it. I beleive i am letting get an automatic ip address so could it be that that both are trying to get the same ip?
Also regarding duplicate IPs, not sure if this is relevantbut on my main laptop there shows up as Two router wifis PLusnet - XCGW and XCGW 2.
Just unplugged both extenders and wifi seems to be working fine on devices.
thanks

The TL-WA850RE can be configured with a DHCP server. It can be configured as Auto, On or Off , see page 14/15 https://static.tp-link.com/res/down/doc/TL-WA850RE(EU)_V2_UG.pdf
It doesnt seem to define what Auto does
as @Dan_the_Van says having more than one DHCP server on the same subnet is a recipe for disaster

Ok, so are you suggesting I only have one working? Because I purchased the other because I thought my issues were with a Tenda Powerline adaptor to get ethernet upstairs, could i potentially use one of those and a wifi extender for downstairs at the same time or is that a no go?
Thanks

It doesnt seem to define what Auto does
From my use of TP-Link devices, if the extender finds an existing DHCP server on the network it sets the local DHCP server to OFF, this can be confusing as if the router DHCP is off, devices still get an IP Address from the TP-Link device but may not work

Not saying this is happening here, but in some cases terminology can get mixed up, where the internet gets called wifi.
For the reader this can confuse as not having wifi can mean one of two things, no wifi (no wireless signal) or no wifi (no access to the internet).
Is the Hub two is working with it's default setup or have you turned off anything?
Just using the Hub on it's own, do all devices (what are they), connect wireless or via ethernet to it and it's working as expected?
What is being connected that you think is causing the issue?
Please confirm the version number of the TP-Link TL-WA850RE, there appears to be many

So Dan, I think I've found the problem, so i also have some Tenda Powerline adatpors which I used to get ethernet upstairs and connect ethernet to a tv, had no problems with them for years they are the PW201a, quite old now.
Last year I wanted a stronger wifi signal downstairs so thought I could buy a wifi extender to sort this problem out, which Is where I think my problems have started, and Ive thought it was the tenda adaptor upstairs which was cuasing the problem and I never unpugged the one downstairs when troubleshooting, so that is my problem i think is that i cant have both a tenda powerline adaptor and a tP - link wifi extender running at the same time.
Hope this makes sense, and is this the case?
My wifi is working fine at the moment with both tp links disconnected but my tenda powerlines connected.

Good you've made some progress.
The Tenda PW201a also appears to be a wireless access point, maybe there is a configuration clash. Hard to say without looking at the setup myself.
Anyway you can always come back if further help is needed
