Plusnet and Netflix

Hi, I'm thinking of coming back to Plusnet from TalkTalk but will the Extra Broadband package be suitable for Netflix streaming in HD as I see streaming on Plusnet looks to be heavily traffic shaped. My TalkTalk account manages it fine on a 4.3 meg connection. Well its 5.10 at the router but thats what I get using wireless.
Regards,
David

HD streaming on extra should be fine, providing your line speed is up to it.  THere are no rate limits on streaming on Extra.

Where on earth did you get that (wrong) idea from?

Hi
I'm running netflix on an AppleTV2 (wireless) & so far it seems fine.  Not sure I have streamed anyting in HD yet though
This is on an ADSL2 at around 5-7Mbps

Maybe not heavily traffic shaped but slowed down. Here http://www.plus.net/addons/pro/

That page is outdated and doesn't match what the true performance is now. Take a look here for the most up-to-date info: http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/download_speeds.shtml

Re: Plusnet and Netflix

One more question, is Plusnets phone service reliable?

Re: Plusnet and Netflix

As long as the line connected to your property is OK then yes as in actual practice the supplier of the phone service has no influence on the reliability

The way that page was presented was down to (stupid) OFCOM rules. Because VoIP is given a fractionally higher priority streaming had to be presented as managed. If there was another 9/11 or similar when everybody was trying to watch live news streams the management would kick in - but apart from that...

Re: Plusnet and Netflix

OK guys thanks for all the replies. As soon as my contract with TalkTalk runs out at the end of the month I'll be straight over to Plusnet.
