Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

Fix
Updated: Openreach engineer here since 3pm and found cable damaged will replaced new cable in the junction box. He will be back soon. Hopefully this will fix the issues of slow speed. He checked on the kit line length from the phone socket to the cabinet 390m.

Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

The Help Team very rarely appear these days, but what exactly do you want them to say?

Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

Would have been an idea to kind of mention that before, but as it was not a total loss of service, I can fairly confidently say that no compensation is due.

Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

Even with lots of disconnected and slower speed since May 14th surely they should offer us compensation (even smaller one) as we are paying £26 a month.

Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

Sorry, but compensation is only paid for total loss of service.

Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

@jab1 Do you think DLM will try reduced SNR to 3dB try to push VDSL2 to 79.999Mbps from 72.879Mbps in next few day as there is room spare for SNR of 6.4dB on downstream but I can see max rate is 75.304Mbps?

Been stable for two days since engineer fixed last Monday.

Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

@goldenlady46 To be honest, with the copper line length reported on there, I don't think a 3dB SNR is a brilliant idea, it gives very little margin for error.

Also, what practical difference, if any, are you going to notice if you theoretically get another 7Mb/s in speed - I respectfully suggest the answer is none.

BTW - two days 'stability' is not exactly a long time to assess the line.

Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

@jab1 That's fair enough. Thanks. Hope it remain stable for more than 28 days. The engineer told us last Monday there shouldn't have any more problem or issues from now on.

Re: Poor Fibre with Intermittent

@jab1 The DLM did actioned reduced 1dB off SNR to increase sync rate from 72.87Mbps to 77.78Mbps. I expected one last one for DLM to add another 1dB off tonight to get the sync rate to 79.99Mbps by tomorrow.
