Reduced speed since Open Reach visit.

Hi, over the last couple of months I've had serious problems with drop outs. Openreach visited 3 times and eventually sorted it a couple of weeks back, the connection is now stable. However, when I complete a speed test now, my download speed has reduced by around 15%, for years it ran at 74mbps using a wired connection on BT wholeslaes speed test, now its consistantly between 60-67mbps. I've rebooted the router and tried all the obvious things, but the speed test remain at the reduced speeds. I thought this may settle to normal levels, but it hasn't.........can it be reviewed ?

Thanks

If you enter your phone number in the BTW DSL checker and post the results, hiding your phone number, will give a better indication of the health of your line than speed tests.

Hiya @robquick

I'm really sorry you are having a drop in speed and for the frustrations this is causing.

I'm not seeing a drop in speed at our side, have the speed tests been run at different times of the day?

Re: Reduced speed since Open Reach visit.

Hi,

Yes, the speed tests have been carried out at various time from 0600-0100 across all days of the week. The 15% reduction from normal speeds that I mention is the best I've had since the OpenReach visit, but ts often lower.

Thanks

Re: Reduced speed since Open Reach visit.

Hi Rob,

I've tested your line and the tests aren't showing any issues with your router getting the full 80mbps. When you're testing your speed, is this from a computer wired straight into your router using an ethernet cable? Additionally are all other devices switched off and nothing running in the background on the computer you're doing the test from?

Also did you know that full fibre (FTTP) is available for you? If you upgrade either online via your account or by calling 0800 013 2632 you'll be able to get a speed anywhere up to 1000mbps which would be massive!

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: Reduced speed since Open Reach visit.

Hi,

100% correct, this is exactly how my system is set up and configured. The problem started staright after the OpenReach engineer fixed the drop out problem, the speed was fine before. We even got the 62mbps speed test issue when the engineer was in my property directly after fixing the other issue. The engineer said at the time this was likely to correct itself now that the stability issue had been fixed, but it could take two weeks. Does the line not just need resetting in some way or the profile adjusting ?

Thanks

Ta for coming back to me @robquick

It wouldn't help in this case, best action is what I have took which is to raise it to our supplier for further investigation.
