Regular connection drops since renewing contract, on same package.

Renewal of package probably not related at all but odd timing.

Internet keeps dropping *very* frequently the last week or so. I have a backup router to check if it's router related, and that too disconnects at similar intervals.

It just seems to go down and then come back up again after a minute.. it's not prolonged at all, but interferes a lot with online activity (that sounds dodgy, I mean gaming, not porn).

Down speed varies between 35 and 50, but upload speed is between 1 and 2 mbps, atm, which is possibly low.

Re: Regular connection drops since renewing contract, on same package.

It has found an external fault @alexrpm so I have raised it for you now.

It should be fixed within 72 hours.

Actually as soon as I have said that it now needs an engineer, when would you be free?

Re: Regular connection drops since renewing contract, on same package.

Do I have to be present for someone to look at the box outside the building? There's no damage to the connection in my place, it's been untouched, unyanked, very much left alone except to make sure it was plugged in correctly when issues arose.
It behaved for a bit but is still dropping, a lot today.

Still frequent enough drops. Weeks on end.

Had the exact same thing before months ago, and it was fixed, and determined to not be my end..

@alexrpm As @willcutforth says in message #3, this needs an Openreach engineer appointment to fix - if you respond to that message, you should get a resolution.

Re: Regular connection drops since renewing contract, on same package.

They said that last time and it wasn't the case, so why should I trust them now? I don't want people around.

I bet they haven't even looked at any problems between, they just want to eliminate user error or tampering with box, but the box is accessible without needing me to be there (just like the engineer did last time).

This only started when I renewed my contract.

Re: Regular connection drops since renewing contract, on same package.

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply, apologies for sounding rude, and possibly obstructive to help.

You were really helpful last time and all over the boards and you are appreciated.

I have my own personal issues.

Re: Regular connection drops since renewing contract, on same package.

Sorry to hear you're still having issues @alexrpm

I've retested the line and it's showing what's known as a high-resistance fault which will be the issue causing this as well as the slow speeds

The only way we can get this sorted is to arrange for a engineer to visit

Re: Regular connection drops since renewing contract, on same package.

@alexrpm It would be helpful to see your full error log - those selective extracts tell us nothing, except that you appear to be losing your DSL connection on an alarming number of occasions.

Please Export the log, and then attach the resulting .csv file to a post.

@alexrpm

Did you arrange an engineer visit as requested by @MatthewWheeler

Good point, @bmc , because until that fault is fixed, DLM will continue to 'manage' the connection.

Re: Regular connection drops since renewing contract, on same package.

I decided to just wait it out. No engineer appointment.

As of a month and a half later, it is sorted. No drops, and speed is optimal again.

I knew I didn't need an engineer visit.. it wasn't my end.

Somewhere else along the line.

Thanks all.
