Regular wifi dropouts

I am very close to binning this router, i just want a solid reliable connection. but am totally [-Censored-]ed off with this service.

I'm disabled, had a stroke, struggle typing and moving about with failing eye sight. Tend to rely on pc for streaming

tv. I guess i need to sort my layout. I signed up for vodaphone but had same problem so dumped them. I just want to sort this out.

Re: Regular wifi dropouts

@Ranny Sorry to hear of your problems, but if the Community is to help you, we need a bit more information. When you say 'regular Wi-Fi dropouts', do you mean your connection is totally failing, or just the  connection to your TV?

Which service are you on, and which router do you have?

Have you reported any of this to Plusnet?

Re: Regular wifi dropouts

OK. If I post my 'help sheet', which asks a few questions/for certain information, can you follow it - no extreme rush, but as we Community members don't have access to the Plusnet systems (obviously), we need as much info from you as possible?

Re: Regular wifi dropouts

No, I didn't - I asked a question, but see below:

For Community members to be able to help, information from these sites, as screenshots, posted as pictures within the topic, not as attachments:-

BT Broadband Availability Checker (obscuring your phone number), where a landline phone is no longer supplied or known use the address version BT Broadband Address Availability (obscuring your address)

A speed test from Ooklla

.

Sight of the broadband connection status from your Hub (with the 'Username' obscured) would also be of help.

For the Hub One -

Navigate from the Home Screen to Troubleshooting > Helpdesk

For the Hub Two -

Navigate from the Home Screen to Advanced Settings > Technical Log > Information

If you are unsure about any of the above, please just ask - I am happy to help.

Re: Regular wifi dropouts

@jab1

I am thinking the event log might be of more help

EDIT: I am out from around 11 am hopefully you'll have time to check the event log?

@Ranny

You said "although it not showing but a manual disconnect and reconnect sorts it."

What are you manually disconnecting and reconnecting, the PC wifi connection or something on the Hub?

Would you able to download the Hub event log as this will hopefully give a clearer idea what is going on.

From the Hub home page, Navigate from the Home Screen to Advanced Settings > Technical Log > Event log

Click on Export, the log file will be downloaded to the Download folder, it can be attached using the paper clip below the reply window

Re: Regular wifi dropouts

@Dan_the_Van That was going to be my next step after examining the connection status, but as I suspect the OP may not be that technically advanced, I was taking things one step at a time.😀

Good idea though.

Re: Regular wifi dropouts

@jab1

The "manual disconnect and reconnect sorts it" puzzles me and make me think it could be the PC as the OP has similar issues with Vodafone.

No harm getting everything though

Re: Regular wifi dropouts

Cheers, @Ranny . That is interesting. I note that the DSL uptime is only just over two hours. I assume you don't turn the Hub off intentionally?

Could you please post the error log as @Dan_the_Van suggested?

Re: Regular wifi dropouts

That isn't the error log we are looking for - see @Dan_the_Van 's guide in message #7

To add multi[le files, click the paper clip again once you have attached one.

Quick question for you - do you still have a land-line phone?
