Router disconnects 40-50 times a day

I moved over from Talktalk about a month ago and ive had a bit of a nightmare. My router restarts and loses connection about 40-50 times a day. It can happen during a Netflix show or in the middle of the night. Im currently working from home so it is a big issue. It disconnects everything and takes about 5 mins to restart and allow me to reconnect.

Even if there's just one device connected the issue is the same as when everyone is in the house with many devices connected. Ive raised a fault via the plusnet site but had no reply . There doesn't even seem to be a way to track my fault.

I cant find a number to call but even if i do im not sure they will do anything. Does anyone have a suggestion  as its getting beyond a joke. I didnt have the issue with Talktalk it rarely disconnected although the speeds did reduce to a crawl at times.

Thanks for any assistance.

Re: Router disconnects 40-50 times a day

@baldrat60 Welcome to the forums.

I can't comment on why you haven't had a reply to your fault, although it sounds strange. When did you raise it, and have you had notification that it has been recognised on the system?

The phone number for PN is 0800 432 0200 - available in various places on the site.

In an attempt to help you - I assume that although you have posted in the ADSL forum you are on FTTC - try this:-

1. Factory reset of the hub by pushing a paperclip or similar in to the reset hole and hold the switch closed for about 30 seconds.
2. Leave it 10 minutes or so and see if that fixes it,

If that doesn’t work:

3. Log in to the hub by putting 192.168.1.254 in the address field of your web browser.
4. On the broadband page (I think, you may need to look through the pages to find it, depending on which hub you have) you should find the username. If it’s setup@plusdsl.net then it hasn’t configured itself.
5. Remove the DSL cable.
6. Change the username to your account username in the form <username>@plusdsl.net.
7. Enter your account password.
8. Plug the DSL cable back in.
9. If it doesn’t try to connect select Connect (again you may need to look through he pages to find it)

Re: Router disconnects 40-50 times a day

Plusnet have responded to my fault but not actually acknowledged anything is wrong. The report theyve done clearly shows the amount of disconnects im having each evening. Ive attached a screen grab. Ive tried everything on there site and the steps youve kindly added but the problem persists. I did notice during the day everytime a new device connected ie switching on the computer the router rebooted.Im not sure this is the cause though as it doesnt explain the disconnected in the evening.

@baldrat60 Without knowing what was in the PN response, I can't really comment, but I would ask them to look again - you have a major issue.

Hiya @baldrat60, thanks for getting in touch. I am sorry that you are experiencing drops in your connection and for the inconvenience caused.

If you have completed all troubleshooting and the drops persist, we will need to look at sending an engineer. I have updated your fault ticket here: https://www.plus.net/wizard/?p=view_question&id=218107090 please just reply on there with the  requested information.
