Re: Speed improvment?

Cheers @Dan_the_Van I did ignore them, as they were outside the 'normal' window. Still say there is something not quite right with this connection. For reference, I had 200+ days DSL uptime on my ADSL before I left PN, and that was on a sometimes 'flaky' 3+ mile copper line from the exchange.

Re: Speed improvment?

So, either the OP is pressing the power button, or said button is dodgy?

Re: Speed improvment?

I have restarted the hub several times whilst configuring pi-hole, I had it on my Pi4 NAS, whilst reconfiguring it on Pi Z, also after connection was activated to reroute wiring. The ones around 2am wasn't me.
The previous attachment hub.jpg shows system uptime 3 days 14 hours but network uptime 13 hours 20. My rough maths relates to why I thought around 3am.
I had 71.8mbs for as long as can remember with previous isp, it did reach this around 48hours after activation, but then relapsed to around 61mbs after firmware update and so far hasn't recovered?
Thanks again guys.

Re: Speed improvment?

As said previously, I suspect the start of a coincidental BT/OR network issue that is causing these early morning drops. Thanks for confirming you were responsible for the daytime ones.

Re: Speed improvment?

Looking through the event log - I see

23:34:31, 01 Jul. Upgrade and system start from GUI

23:35:00, 01 Jul. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=60759kbps, Up Rate=19000kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.2dB, Up=10.0dB

02:47:29, 03 Jul. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=71766kbps, Up Rate=19999kbps; SNR Margin Down=3.2dB, Up=7.3dB

14:38:16, 05 Jul. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=60885kbps, Up Rate=19000kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.2dB, Up=7.9dB

00:48:12, 06 Jul. Booting firmware v0.10.00.04201-PN (Thu Apr 20 16:54:19 2023)
00:48:09, 06 Jul. Upgrade and system start TR069

00:48:39, 06 Jul. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=60916kbps, Up Rate=19000kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.2dB, Up=8.0dB

So it was already around 61 prior to the upgrade to v0.10.....

What has happened is the SNR Margin down =6.2dB where as before it was 3.2dB

I suspect the repeated reboots hasn't helped

Re: Speed improvment?

Good points, @Dan_the_Van , but I, personally would like to see the RADIUS logs. If the OP disconnected properly before doing the changes, DLM should ignore the disconnections - AIUI.

Re: Speed improvment?

Line was only activated 01/07/23 and by 03/07/23 it settled to the attached files speed, then after firmware update 05/07/23 it dropped to the previous speed? I've not rebooted the hub at all since then.

Thanks again for all your time folks Smiley

Re: Speed improvment?

Just a quick update as I 've heard nothing. Took the first screen grab just now and no change, at least its not dropped out in three days, system uptime is 6 days (not shown).

Thought the speed was slow at 6am so ran speedtest on Pi directly connected to router through LAN, very strange result as seen in second attachment, tested again at 8am and back to usual, third attatchment.

Cheers.

Re: Speed improvment?

@jab1 @Baldrick1

Recieved this email today :

Download: 57 - 64Mb
Upload: 16 - 18Mb

These are the speeds your line is capable of at peak times.

Current line speed: 78Mb

This is a measure of the actual line speed you are now receiving based on the product you have taken.

Minimum Guaranteed Speed: 51.4Mb

Decided to give PN a call as line speed is still 61mbs, and was told as its above minimum guaranteed speed, nothing can be done, stated was 71.8mbs and told its openreach that decide what is the best line speed achievable and they set it accordingly, nothing PN can do.

So I guess I'm just stuck with what openreach decide to give me huh?

Thanks again.

Re: Speed improvment?

@Rgmanby Do you know how far you are away from the fibre cab, roughly?

Re: Speed improvment?

If your connection from the cab to your master socket is good, then the connection speed quoted in that email looks about right. However, as your 15.07 screenshot shows, for some reason that the DLM has detected some issue and dropped the speed down to compensate.

What does https://www.speedtest.net/ say you are getting, speed-wise?

Re: Speed improvment?

https://www.speedtest.net/result/14995955798

The guy at PN did test the line and said there are no drops or faults.

Thanks again.

Re: Speed improvment?

Fix

That is about the result I would expect from your 15.07 Hub page result, to be honest. The PN test would not necessarily pick up on an impacted line, as yours appears to be - AFAIK only Openreach DLM would see that, and adjust the connection accordingly.

I fear you are stuck with what you have.
