Speed improvement?

After just been connected and looking at the dash for the hub 2, I notice my downstream is 60.702mbps. Information given was the speed would stabilise over time. My other provider I switched from downstream was 70.8mbps!
My question is will the speed of the hub 2 improve over time tobe somewhere near the old providers, or is it set by the router/line itself?
There has been no change to my line, engineer visit or anything else since switch, it was all done automatically.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Speed improvment?

@Rgmanby Can you post screenshots of (1) the result from https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL obscuring your phone number and (2) the Technical Log (Information) page from your Hub?

Re: Speed improvment?

Hmm, how do I attach files?
Also my msfs2020 is reloading 178gb since last night 60gb left to go, that's draining it heavily at present.
I find the speed sufficient, just wondered if the extra 10mbps or so would make a difference?

To post as pictures in the reply, select the icon to the right of the 'smiley face' one above the reply box and follow the prompts.

When I see those results, I can then - possibly - advise.

Re: Speed improvment?

Do you not have a desktop/laptop - those shots are close to impossible to use?

Re: Speed improvment?

Better. 😉

The second of those two raises a question though - you don't turn the Hub off overnight, do you?

Re: Speed improvment?

Not usually, I rigged it up yesterday when it was first connected, turned it off this morning just to tidy the cables up.

Cheers.

Re: Speed improvment?

OK, so that explains the short uptime - no worries.

There does however, appear t be some disparity between what the BTw report says your line is capable of, and the profile it appears to have been given. As you say, you were getting ~70mb/s on June 24, and yet PN seem to have put you on a lower profile. Doesn't make sense, to me, as the only thing that has changed is your ISP, and therefore your routing - nothing to do with the actual physical connection.

Humour me, though - somewhere in the Hubs pages you should find your Line and Signal Attenuation figures - can you report them, please?

Re: Speed improvment?

I'm getting good at this, I'm a retired industrial electrician, but this tech is beyond me.

Thanks again.

Re: Speed improvment?

Very good! From those attenuation figures, I have no idea why PN  have decided to  put you on such a low profile. You must be almost on top of your cab. This needs staff input, but something is not right - IMHO.

Re: Speed improvment?

I think they go by post code here too, mine actually points to the croft on any sat nav so you end up on the other side of the village, not my house which is actually only 200 yards from the actual exchange, and there is another house 44 aswell as three number 38's next door.

House's are numbered by the associated croft theyre linked too, no road names here too, postman is very good.
