Speed suddenly capped

I noticed my router resynced at some point over the last day and now seems to be capped at a sync speed of 48.997 Mbps. I've tried manually resyncing multiple times and every time its the exact same which leads me to believe there has been a cap put in place. It was working fine with no outages for a while before this, syncing above 55mbps.

Re: Speed suddenly capped

@sweeep1963 Are you sure you haven't had any 'outages' - a speed reduction like this, especially to a capped figure as this appears to be, doesn't happen for no reason.

Re: Speed suddenly capped

Nope no outages whatsoever, only router reboots have been from me testing various options, qos etc. Not lost connection once outside of that.

Which router are you using? - it would be interesting to see the Event Log.

Re: Speed suddenly capped

Using the DSL-AX86U. I've checked the general log but it only seems to go back as far as around 8am this morning but the resync happened some time overnight based on what the DSL uptime was when I checked.

Re: Speed suddenly capped

Ah, OK, not much help then, but some kit is like that. Can you, though, post the general information page - don't know what it is called on there, but I'm interested in U/S and D/s noise margins and anything else on the page that displays that.

Re: Speed suddenly capped

Sure, here. I've noticed the SNR has gone up by about 2dB and the stability adjustment of the router no longer works (this feature lets you reduce/increase the SNR to increase speeds or improve stability - it has worked pretty well without increasing instability since I've used it).

Re: Speed suddenly capped

I can't see anything out of place on there, apart from the fact that the U/S attenuation is reading as '0.0', but something has capped you, certainly.😕

Re: Speed suddenly capped

Yep it's strange. Yes the U/S attenuation has been like that since I bought the router, must be a visual bug or something

Re: Speed suddenly capped

Quite possibly a visual bug, or a general  error in the kits coding - who knows? To be honest, I think this needs Help Team assistance, but their visibility on here is almost non-existent, unfortunately. All I can suggest at the moment is that you give the bot a kick: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/

How often did you reboot the router..?  The reboots may look like a line drop to the DLM software, if the line drops frequently the DLM software will drop the speed.  I don't think the DLM will necessarily know you did a reboot - I guess it depends how you did the reboot and if the link was cleanly brought down before the router was restarted.

Re: Speed suddenly capped

Maybe once a week or once every 2 weeks when I was testing configurations - it wasn't really a reboot just a changing config causing a resync. Only on occasion where the router may freeze would I need to reboot it. I was indeed worried about the DLM viewing it as instability. I hadn't touched it for about 2 weeks until this happened though.

Re: Speed suddenly capped

Had a look for you @sweeep1963 and speed is syncing at 48 from our side with no cap on there. The speed isn't below the MGS so not much we can do really. Is the setup optimised?
