Static IP

Hi

I'm trying to set my IP to be static. There is no option on the Add-ons page where its meant to be according to the help pages.

How do I manage this?

Thanks

Ken

Re: Static IP

Yes but the static IP option isn't there. Rang CS and they couldn't do it and were to ring me back and didn't.

Re: Static IP

Hi there,

You able to post up a screenshot of what you're seeing in the Add-Ons page?

From what I can see the option to add a static IP looks to be there.

Re: Static IP

Hi Gandalf

Addons and Connection details. On the connection I'm sure it said dynamic for the IP addess previously. My contract was renewed recently. I'm sure in previous years/contracts I've had a static IP.

Re: Static IP

Hi Ken,

Ah sorry you do have a static IP but it was added so long ago in 2004 before the AddOns page was created.

If you go to a website like this one you should be able to find out what the IP is.

Not the 80.229.249.141 I was expecting. All I want to do is access my NAS from outside my LAN.

Re: Static IP

Hi Ken,

Are you checking your IP while on a VPN or a different internet connection?

Good call VPN on. Finds correct IP with it off. Still can't get at the NAS from outside LAN though.

Re: Static IP

Ah glad that your static IP is working.

I've never tried to access a NAS from the wider web so that's not really something I can help you with, but maybe someone from the Community with more experience might be able to help you with that.

@knewmans1  depending on the NAS , it's likely that you'll need to configure some port forwarding on the router.

What NAS is it ?

Re: Static IP

Hi MisterW

Its a Synology, DSM7.1. I've done port forwarding both manually and letting the NAS do it. From inside the LAN I can use QuickConnect, the Synology DDNS and the static IP to access the NAS. From outside QuickConnect works but not the DDNS or the static IP.

I'm doing something stupid somewhere.

Re: Static IP

@knewmans1  never actually used one I'm afraid but according to this https://kb.synology.com/en-au/DSM/tutorial/Quick_Start_External_Access it looks like it uses port 5000 for http and 5001 for https access.

So ports 5000 or 5001 will need to be forwarded to the NAS.

When trying to access it remotely , you will need to add the port to the url e.g <DDNS or static ip>:5001
